I don't read Ghost Rider monthly. It's just not my thing. I mean, when I was growing up, the only magic based character I had any affection for was Dr. Fate, and that's just because his helmet was cool. Dr. Strange? Nope. Thor? No thank you. But lately, with Vaughan doing Strange and Straczynski doing Thor, I've been giving them chances. So, would Jason Aaron win me over to GR? In a word, yes.
I'm not a big fan of Jason Aaron...I like the work you're not supposed to like; his superhero work, which has a built-in audience. Scalped doesn't work for me (blasphemy!) and I like Other Side, but I don't love it like a lot of guys do. His Wolverine run was fun, but it's Wolverine...I like the character, so I'm willing to give it a shot. When you take a writer I'm ok with and a character that I could care less about, how do you get me to read the book?
Tony Moore.
It's insane how good this book looks. I saw a preview on 'Rama a few weeks back, so I knew he was on it, but dang, the book as a whole was sure purty!
And then top it off with a legacy story. You know, like JSA or Young Avengers? Appears that the Garth Ennis Civil War-era Ghost Rider was not just a Max title that had no legs. The Ghost Rider is a legacy character, and that made me really sit up and take notice (Not sure if this is a spoiler, but I'll call it one anyway). The surest way to my comic loving heart is to say that something was passed down from one hero to another. And the legacy of Ghost Rider is a long and storied one that goes from the ridiculous to the sublime.
Great work by the creative team. I can only hope that Tony stays on for a while because I want to see this one through.
