I note that some people are going to be dropping this book, although often for economic reasons which I can certainly sympathise with. However, I'm making the decision to add it to my pull list at my local shop. This was exceptional stuff, I had great fun with it. While I know that the whole legacy thing has been done over and over for the past decade or so, it has never been as entertaining as it is here. While I am clearly a big Starman fan (hence the username), along with loving the likes of JSA and Iron Fist, these books were occasionally a little, dare I say it, po faced (and I say that with the utmost love and respect for the books listed). This take on that concept is a balls to the wall, out and out wild ride. I mean you only have to look at the World War One "Ghost Flyer" (who "thirsts for luftwaffe blood!") to prove the point. Many reviewers describe this as a kind of grindhouse epic, and that's probably the best description. It's a layered, detail rich version of an exploitation movie with, in this issue, a strong central female protaganist (which isn't as common as you might think in this kind of book).
The art too is deserving of strong praise. Moore brings great detail to this history lesson, stepping up to the plate and matching Aaron's story perfectly. There's also some good color work, sometimes looking nicely washed out to match the overall mood. Enjoyable to the end.
Art: 4 - Very Good
