As they have been doing since the 1960s, the crew of the Enterprise was exploring the universe.  Captain Sue was on the bridge, with her First Officer Johnny Storm at her side.  Dr. Ben Grimm was in sick bay, and Commander Reed was in Engineering.  All is well, until the Enterprise is attacked by old nemesis Namor (played by Ricardo Montelban).

Captain Sue easily dispatched of Namor, who was all bluster, and the danger was put at bay by thinking in more dimensions than the enemy, but the Enterprise was in critical danger, and Chief Engineer Reed was put out of commission by an earlier story arc that no one had actually read.  So, it was left to Johnny and Ben to keep the Enterprise from blowing up.  Johnny realized that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few -- or the one -- and sealed himself alone to save the rest of the crew.  It was too dangerous to enter the control area, so Johnny and Ben touched hands across the barrier.  "I have been, and always shall be, your friend," he says, sacrificing himself so that the Enterprise could zoom away to safety.

Little do we know that -- before sealing himself away -- Johnny put a part of his soul inside of Ben's brain (which gets sealed in for freshness when Ben changes into The Thing.)  In a year or so, he will start to emerge in this strange, new world.  Stay tuned for "Fantastic Four III: The Search for Johnny."
