First things first Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern is gay .
Second he is not the Golden age Green Lantern , he is a pale imitation of the Golden Age Green Lantern . Now that all of that has been established lets talk about the book . It is actually pretty good . James Robinson is penning a nice little yarn , with solid charecters and plenty of action .It is nothing ground breaking or innovative , but it is a good super hero story . Although I don’t think I like original Mr Terrific being so douchey .
The art by Nicola Scott is good but I am not a big fan of her Flash costume . I wished they had gone with either the original outfit or one that was less …well tacky . Still despite my minor quibbles , this is a good book .
My major problem with the book is that all the Justice Society heroes are not the JSA that I have come to love . DC just decided to make them younger to appeal to the TWILIGHT crowd . It was nice to read a book about middle aged charecters , especially since I , myself , am a middle aged reader of comics . Hopefully when DC reboots this universe to increase sales , they will bring back the real Justice Society .

Story: 4 - Very Good

  1. A: Green Lantern has not appeared in the book yet, so it’s silly to pass any kind of judgement. B: Making the characters younger (as they were in the golden age) is not to appeal to the Twilight set, but rather to appeal to the largest number of people possible. as well as to be able to tell the origins of the characters.

  2. I’m 26. I hate twilight and I’d pay a million bucks to have the memory of the movie erased from my brain, forever. And I love the younger characters.

It’s a “new” take on the DC universe. Younger heroes is the way to go. Nobody wants to read the adventures of Jay Garrick and his walking stick… Come on, be realist! 😉 The old stories will always be good, always be there… but it’s 2012 and there’s a new generation of kids willing to spend their hard earned money (or their parent’s) on comics! 🙂

All in all, good review mate!
