For better or worse, DEMON KNIGHTS continues to be a romping DC take on “a band of adventurers meets in a tavern”. There’s some nifty little world-building here – like that the “dragons” glimpsed at the end of #1 don’t just look like dinosaurs, but probably actually are – but overall this issue is action, action, and more action: bloody, badass, fun.

There isn’t a lot of plot or character progression to speak of, really, though we get a bit from our main cast of heroes just in their way of fighting and quipping while doing so. DEMON KNIGHTS is a book that doesn’t take itself too seriously, thankfully; doing so would render the plot completely idiotic.

Is there much to draw you in if you were on the fence after #1? Not really. But #2 won’t drive you away screaming, and ought to be precisely what you’d expect: Dungeons & Dragons, DC Universe style.
