Brubaker's Captain America was the series that brought me back to comics, so it's good to see his run reach 50 issues. But, having said that, what I really loved about this book was the back-up features. First off, someone give Marcos Martin a series! I don't care what it is, I'll buy it. His full page renderings of Cap submerged in the ocean and the one of Cap bleeding on the ground were absolutely breathtaking! And then there was a feature written and drawn by the one and only Fred Hembeck. Man, this made me miss "Marvel Age"! I was even more of a sucker for this two-pager because one of the first superhero comics I ever read was a reprint of "Strange Tales" #114 featuring fake Cap. Hembeck was showcasing weird comics decades before the internet, and his love for these old stories makes me feel like a kid again. Totally worth my money.
