I, for some reason, really wanted to dislike this comic.  I even commented earlier that I had no intention of picking it up.  So I walked into my local comic shop like every Wednesday and there it was on top of my pile.  I flipped through it and thought that the art wasn't as bad as I had expected so I'll give it a shot.  I am also a big fan of Kevin Smith's movies so I thought "Why not?"

I didn't hate the book and I didn't love it.  Another reviewer before me put it best...the comic annoyed me.  Some parts were very good : the Deadshot and Joker interaction, the end with the Joker and Maxie Zeus.  Some parts were very bad : the inconsistent look of the Joker, the way Zsasz was written really annoyed me, and the very Kevin Smith-esque things that work in his movies but not so much in the comics.  When Joker bent over the tree I expected Randall to be standing there next to a donkey telling everyone why Star Wars is better than Lord of the Rings (and by the way, I wholeheartedly agree with Randall's re-enactment of the LOTR trilogy in Clerks 2) and the references to killing and molesting children were very consistent with Smith's way of making things very uncomfortabe for the sake of humor.

The villain is interesting to me but I don't know much about him having never read any of Smith's other comics work.  It's safe to say that I won't pick up the next two issues and I may just wait for it in trade or I may just say forget it.
