Ok, so I miss Frank Quitely already. However, I like Phillip Tan’s art.  I had a hard time following some of his art in Green Lantern but it works really well here.  His darker more gritty style is better suited in a batman book.  His panel work could have been better but it wasn’t that bad.  I’ve come to the realization that all of the Morrison’s work I really enjoy is accompanied by Quitely art.  This issue is different. It is as good as the last arc was in terms of writing and I think I’m going to like this arc more than the last. I like that we are getting more villains in the Batman’s rogues gallery.  It is refreshing to see all these new ideas in a Batman book.  In this issue we have a Anti-Batman and Robin in the Red Hood and Scarlet.  I really liked the scenes with Red Hood and Scarlet bonding alone talking about what the future has in store for them and their role in the reformation of Gotham. Frank Quitely may be gone for a bit but I’m still on board and waiting anxiously to read the next issue.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 3 - Good

  1. I loved the Scarlet/Red Hood scenes as well. I can’t place my finger on what about it…. but damn it was good.

  2. They’re like mirror universe versions of Batman and Robin.  That’s what we need Evil Batman and Robin with goatees…come on Morrison make it happen.
