I wasn’t sure I was going to pick up #2 after not being completely wowed by #1 last month, but the art impressed me and the villain hooked me pretty strongly.

The art again this month is the highlight of the book. I got lots of little impressions of John Cassaday’s art from Astonishing X-Men which was quite the surprise. The action looked very good, and Gleason and Gray do some really great things with shading and coloring on the civilian versions of the characters’ faces.

Again, I was a little disappointed in the writing. It’s fine, and I like the concept of a Bat book that focuses on the father-son relationship, but it almost seems a little too on the nose every page. I’d like a little more subtlety in the friction between Bruce and Damian. The book also felt just slight of a full story. It was a quick read that could have used just a bit more meat on the bones.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
