I know that Snyder's Batman run is amazing, and it practically goes without saying that anything else involving the character would pale in comparison, but please...if you haven't already, BUY THIS SERIES. With the first trade paperback out (or coming out soon?), you now only need that and a few more issues to be caught up completely. And oh man is it worth it. But anyway, about this issue. To be honest, the one panel of Damian driving away from Jason's house whistling happily to himself is probably worth buying this book for on its own. How can you not love Damian? He's so unapologetic about being an absolute dick. My favorite part about the current arch is his attempt to humiliate all of the previous Robins in some way. The characterization here is just perfect all around. I wish more time per issue was dedicated to this! The main storyline involving a new gang of villains that Batman has wronged in some way is more of a mixed bag. While they aren't compelling as serious threats against Batman, they're all spectacularly weird and ridiculous. I love that the character with a boot imprint on his face is called "Bootface", brilliant! The character with a batarang lodged into his brain who frequently drops random non sequiturs during his dialogue also had me rolling. How can you not enjoy a badguy who shouts "my blu-ray is buffering" in mid punch? Their ring-leader Terminus, on the other hand, is pretty damn dull. Art-wise, it's fine. I by no means have a deep (or even shallow, really) understanding of art, I just likes what I likes, and I liked this well enough. Nothing about the style of this comic really "jumps out" at me, it's all very standard-but-good comic book stuff. Still, there are a couple of panels that are desktop-background worthy and that smirk on Damians face after he bests Redhood is worth extra points alone. Overall, this comic continues to be consistently entertaining. I wish the time spent with the two parallel storylines would skew more towards the Robin vs. Robin plot, but what's here is fun regardless.
