Is this filler? Some think so, I don’t. We are getting holes filled in between RIP and Final Crisis, filling those holes is not really filler. What is this then if not filler, we are getting a character story of Bruce’s state of mind during that time.

This is leaning towards my pick of the week, so far this is the first book that I’ve read in weeks where I paused and felt that I got something out of it. Yeah we’ve all read Batman stories, but Morrison run on the character is extraordinary, truly epic. Right now they are examining who is Batman, from the Battle for the Cowl, to Batman and Robin, and no matter who has the Cowl, Jason, Dick or Tim this story that Morrison is telling shows us that Bruce is Batman, and always will be Batman, that is until he dies and Daimen takes over.

This massive story is also about the journey, and this is quite a journey Bruce is taking. People are going to say this is filler, but think about this. If you say read a novel, or watch a movie like Inception. It is about the journey, and like some writers Morrison chose not to tell this right after RIP, why because some of the details would have been revealed and lessen the impact of stories already told.

Revealing that this was a recording had a powerful impact, while his mind is going he is still planning how to get out of the situation he now finds himself in.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
