  1. Why did you give the story a 4 if you only understand 7% of it?

  2. I’m giving Morrison the benefit of the doubt here. I really like what’s happened so far, and as long as everything gets answered next issue, I’m going to end up loving this whole run of his. I gave it a 4 because I’m assuming I’ll understand (close to) 100% after next issue. I didn’t give it a 5 because I understood less of it than I would have liked.

  3. why do i read this book while drinking. yay confusion

  4. I don’t agree that Jezebel is the Black Glove.  Yet.  This IS Morrison, afterall.

I do like the notion that Batman allowed this stuff to happen to him so he could understand Joker, but I have to believe there’s more to it than that.

This only has one issue left, right?  Seems like a lot needs to be packed in that alst issue.

  5. Despite despising the first few issues, last issue came around a little for me. To my surprise I was thinking this would my POW as I was reading it. Then I read the second half…

I’m still ‘meh’ on this event.

  6. Well, I’m in agreement with you Imiller31.

Grant has always maintained that the answer was right in front of our faces the whole time. Jezebel Jet, just the name itself should of been a clincher. First name has its link to Wickedness and black, …as in jet black. Red hair, black skin. Even the sight of her putting on the black gloves with her wicked evil smile was clearly straight forward. Now the question remains… just who exactly is Jezebel Jet? Is that really her hair? Is this the Devil? They do say that the Devil is in the details.

By the way, I loved it, but I can’t POW it just yet.

Killer line – "Imagination is the 5th dimension." Great stuff Grant.

  7. okay black and red petal are only dead together jezvel black woman red hair the black glove gots him shes the black glove

  8. Nice review. I’m with you on your list of things you did & didn’t understand. 7% might be a little high for myself though …

I don’t think it all can be wrapped up in any satisfying way (the whole story I mean, remember that whole issue where we didn’t know what was really happening or not?) & even though I think it’s clear that Jet is the Black Glove, you guys are right — this is Morrison, so this whole issue might not have even really happened, it might be some meta-textual drug induced time warped dream sequence of doom.

  9. I’d appreciate a little cohesion between the main story and these supposed tie-ins. I keep looking to Robin, Nightwing, BATO, and Detective for a little help in figuring out this mess – surely Dini’s practical approach can demuddle the Morrison mess? Alas, not.

  10. No point in picking up the tie-ins in the other books unless you were already reading those anyway. Dini seems to be making his own mess over in Detective anyway. This story at least has my brain working to figure out the mystery, whereas Dini is writing just another flashback-heavy Hush story.

  11. @Imiller31 – allow me to explain:

Gordon, Talia, and Damien are there to save Batman

The Black Glove brought in the Joker to give Batman a villain to fight. It’s all a game for them to place bets on. And clearly not finding Robin screws up their plans because he was probably supposed to be in Nightwings position, and secondarily because Tim’s going to undoubtedly swoop in and save the day.

It has nothing to do with the Waynes. All that was just to screw with Bruce.

Batman snapped out of the Zur-En-Arrh persona because his confrontation with the Joker brought him back to some measure of sanity. Now he has the perspective needed to kick some ass!

The tiles and the "I’m sorry" are just symbolic meta-storytelling.

But ya got me on the radio thing. It is Grant Morrison after all.

  12. @actualbutt –

I definitely need to reread all of these issues (which I will do the day before the next issue hits) cause I thought there was a lot more compelling evidence and more of an elaborate back story to implicating Bruce’s parents and/or Alfred (and something about Alfred possibly being Bruce’s real dad?)

And that Joker fight snapping him out of his Zur-En-Arrh haze makes some sense. But throughout the whole fight Batman was still talking in the blue bubbles with white letters. It wasn’t until Bruce went to save Jezebel that his speech bubble went back to normal, so that’s when I figured he snapped out of it.

Did they say (in a past issue) why they couldn’t find Robin? And I assumed they wanted to catch Nightwing AND Robin AND Alfred AND Gordon AND anyone else who might try to help Bruce. So it makes me think they kind of suck at whatever they’re doing if they only got Nightwing and Alfred, and everyone else is running around and free to save Bruce. But I don’t know. like I said, I NEED to reread all of these issues…

  13. My advice would be not to try too hard to make sense of it, because I’m not sure if it’s meant to be 100% clear no matter how many times you read it. I think it’s meant to be vague/confusing & only the writer understands exactly what he is saying … everyone else is guessing.
