There are some things I really liked about this issue, and a few I didn't like. I'll start with the bad first.
A large portion of this issue is a fight, which is awesome, but it wasn't very clear to me what was going on the whole time. The monster(?) was green transparent liquid, and I can understand that is hard to depict, so I don't hold it against Latour too much. It did kind of distract me though.
The part That really got me was the last two pages. Agent Vaughn has just gone through one hell of a night, and after we learned about his background a bit in issue one; we know the death of a teammate is not how he saw this night ending. When he gets inside the other house, I was expecting him to find the vamp family, but they're all dead from the fungus. In a perfect example of how things go in the world of BPRD, Vaughn has no choice but to kill a kid vampire in the end. The kid had accidentally caused the death of his whole family, and was mercy-killed by Vaughn before the ooze-monster could take over. It was so tragic, until I remembered the kid's a vampire, and by killing his family he inadvertently saved the world from a vampire apocalypse. A realization that made me like him more! So I was back to being bummed he died.
In the end, while I wasn't crazy about the art, the back and forth of emotions caused by the story's end redeemed it in my eyes. While I liked this a bit less than "The Long Death", it was still a pretty good tale about the bittersweet nature of work in the Bureau. I also wonder if this is just a one-off story, or if maybe it's only being presented that way. Remember "The Corpse and the Iron Shoes", it seemed like that was just a case involving a changeling at first.
P.S- Does anyone know how to type these reviews using paragraphs? I type it out like that, when I publish the review it's one giant paragraph

Great review! Although only two issues, I really enjoyed this peek into the life of regular BPRD field agents.
As far as the formatting of your review goes, I’m not really sure what can be done. I tried writing my reviews in Word and then pasting them over, but that didn’t seem to help either.
Thanks. I enjoyed reading yours as well. Good idea trying to paste from Word, I guess reviews with paragraphs will remain a mystery for now, oh well.
