I decided to jump on this for the mini-crossover with Daredevil and Punisher. It sounds like a nice, concise three-parter. And while there’s some fun, snappy Spider-patter, this issue didn’t grab me.

I’m disappointed because I love both Waid and Rucka, and thought just watching these three characters interact under the pens of these writers would be fantastic. Sadly, it reads pretty flat.

Checcheto’s art is simultaneously more cartoony and a little grimacy for me (the Liefeld facial expression, not the purple McDonald’s mascot).

I might even skip the Daredevil issue, and wait for the next arc to start.

  1. I’ve been a huge fan of Zeb Wells on this title so far and still sad he isn’t somehow contributing. I’m not too familiar with the 2 guys that did this story and with your review rating so low it’s making me a bit nervous for wednsday haha

  2. Totally disagree. I thought the art and story blended excellently. Rucka and Waid have great handles on all the characters here and the art is a perfect complement. The three heroes come together in a beleiveable and enjoyable way. This Omega Effect arc reminds me of what DC is doing with Animal Man and Swamp Thing: two stellar stand alone titles that make it obvious that they inhabit the same universe. I hesitate to call this an event as its only three issues but this is how you get crossovers started.

  3. I really loved this book aswell and can’t wait for the next 2 issues:)
