I feel like I’m in danger of just always insisting that AVENGING SPIDER-MAN is a huge amount of fun every time I review an issue. Because it is.

This is the beginning of “The Omega Effect”, a 3-part story that continues into PUNISHER and DAREDEVIL and teams Spidey with both characters. Even though the groundwork for this plot seems to have been laid in the pages of DAREDEVIL, and I’ve been reading neither that nor PUNISHER, it doesn’t take too much to get on board with what’s happening. DD has come into possession of an object called “the Omega Drive”, a hard drive with extensive data on the world’s biggest megacrime cartels – HYDRA, A.I.M., the Hand, you name it.

The Punisher wants it. Daredevil wants to protect it. Spidey wants to…well, mostly make it out of this and do a pal a favor, and also maybe do the right thing. I guess. Liberty Bonds.

After this initial issue I’ll probably be looking at finishing out the story, and if that’s my jumping on point for DAREDEVIL, which I hear is great, then so much the better. Meanwhile, AVENGING SPIDER-MAN never disappoints.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
