This is a fucken mess of a book. See how the original team of Avengers came together. See the world first encounter The Hulk, several decades ago when they see him on CNN.
Wait….what?
How is there CNN when Tony Stark is still using his Iron Monger style armor? When, exactly, is this supposed to be taking place?
If they’re going for a reboot, why not come up with a better origin for The Hulk than “gamma radiation”? If they’re trying to just retell the original origin for modern readers, well…they didn’t do a good job. If I want to read a modern take on The Avengers, I’ll read The Ultimates, or one of the many Avengers titles set to relaunch this spring.
This is very much skippable as a story. Noto’s art is gorgeous at the beginning, but wanes a bit as the issue goes on.

I get quite a bit of monthly offal bro. I have a tendency to get whatever my heart desires, or would ‘possibly interest me’ regardless if its good or not. I’ll give just about anything a try. If you look at my pull lists every week, I’m still getting a large amount of books. Your reviews, often, help me distinguish between the weeds and the wheat.
Totally agree with you on the story points of technology and the time and place of the story. I threw me right out of the story, loved the art but this story is not that solid at all. Great review!

I agree with your review, but I think you were too gentle. I found the incongruities nausea-inducing. This book should not exist.
@coltrane: I think this is the first time I’ve ever been called "too gentle" on this site. 😉 If I could Mephisto a deal with Casey to make it so that I never read this comic, I’d definitely consider it.
