Inexcusable or inexplicable? Self-aware or self-deluded?
How could this embarrassment have possibly happened? Why do I find myself offended, or at least insulted by this horrible comic issue?
For those who have not read this, expect a retelling of the Avengers origin story moved into the present - but not exactly. Somehow, Rick Jones and his version of the newsboy brigade are now hard-core computer hackers with GUIs and flat-screen TVs - and they have automatic weapons! On the other hand, Tony Stark has only the most primitive version of the Iron Man armor - while at the same time he writes sophisticated computer code. Dr. Don Blake receives emails (no kidding)!
I knew there was something wrong when the train heading towards the Hulk looked suspiciously like the Amtrak Acela that I take from New Haven to Washington a couple of times each year. Each page turn worsened my mood. Even the printing was horrible - some pages were underprinted, and some looked acceptable.
Nothing about this book was good. I hope that my kids never dig this book up and somehow believe that the early Hank Pym called Janet Van Dyne an "adrenaline junkie". I hope that this book dies a quick death and is read by nobody. If you want to re-write history, make an Ultimate book. I am truly sorry that I read this book.
