If you’re looking for something cerebral and different, Animal Man might be right up your alley. Lemire is doing a great job of crafting multiple storylines that will clearly meet in the near future. I’m just as concerned about Buddy’s wife and son as I am about the story that is taking place “in the red.” It seems that everything here is off the beaten path when it comes to themes and execution in a superhero story Lemire and Scott Snyder clearly have a larger story for Animal Man and Swamp Thing and their work on these two books prove to me that the right creators can make any character great, even for someone who has no history with a character.

Travel Foreman’s art is growing on me, but I just don’t love it. It is really effective when the story requires a crazy-looking, scary monster, but I find that a lot of the work with normal humans seems 2 dimensional and the syle is a little more loose than I like. I don’t think it’s bad, it just isn’t up my alley.
