The thing I love about this book is that at it’s main core it’s about a family dealing with extraordinary events. Oddly enough, Buddy isn’t the character that I’m interested in. It’s Maxine. She’s brave and smart, but is still a little girl at heart. I have a feeling that one day it’s going to be her book. We’ll see. I also love Ellen in this book. It’s a rarity that we see such a great female character with out using her sex appeal in comics. There should be more characters like her.

This is also the scariest comic that I’m reading right now. The Rot look like something out of an H.P. Lovecraft story and Travel Foreman’s art is down right disturbing in some parts. While I like Grant Morrison’s interpretation more, Jeff Lemire is certainly becoming one of my favorite writers in comics.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 5 - Excellent
