I don’t think I’d dig Foreman’s art on any other book (very sparse backgrounds, weird faces), but I love it here, and it’s a huge reason for the raging success of this book. The designs and the shifting forms of the Hunters, Buddy, etc. are so disturbing, creative, primal, bizarre – there’s evil genius at work here that will stick in my imagination forever!

Comments

  1. I agree, if it had backgrounds like Yanick in the SwampThing book, and went for the ultra realistic drawings, I would start really criticizing it,but it’s a great fit of art style and writing. I actually like the portrayal of the characters in this book as opposed to Yanick’s style. The design style really pushes the story telling, and creates unpredicatbility on every page.

  2. If you had told me Animal Man would be one of my favorite books in teh new 52, I would have scoffed. (Yes, people still do that!) But it is. Creepy horror vibe with some comedy and genuine family moments. All with perfectly matched art.

  3. The way those Hunters… unravel… as they lose control of their host forms? Disgustastic.
