This was awesome a total 5 star book I just had make it pick of the week,
It was too unerveing. I also read Swamp Thing this week which was my pick of the week up until the writing of this review, these books are very similar in theme and tone but as I said it was just too unerveing.

Don’t get me wrong this book was phenomenal but as a reader who just never really was into horror
books because the ones I picked up just weren’t good, but this, this was done too well the anticpation
between scenes of animal man and maxine and then cliff and his mother left you wanting one while reading the other.

When the bad guy showed up at the Baker house, I was truly frightened and thats what got to me,this was the first time I’ve ever felt scared reading a comic as if my happy place was being invaded and that was when I realised that this book is going to mean somthing special for me.

This series is my first exposure to Lemire and boy do I like it I now wait with baited breaths for the next issue, but I now find that the animal man scenes arent near as engrossing as the family scenes because the family aren’t super heroes (bar maxine for now.)and that real harm may befall them also it plays into the fear of somthing bad happening to your real family which means an extra tip of my hat to Mr.Lemire.

On the art side of things Travel Foreman is now offically on my to watch list as he has came along leaps and bounds from the work he displayed in issue one and is leaving me more and more creeped out and enthralled(even slightly aroused) with every panel.

God damn do I love this book and dont want it to end ever!
