Sometimes, and I’m not just putting on false humility here, I can be wrong. Or at the very least, I can be right untill I’m pleasently surprised into wrongness. I started buying this book because the buzz was good and I understood it to ba a companion piece to Swamp Thing, a title I enjoyed. The first two issues didn’t wow me. In fact, I told myself that if issue #3 didn’t impress, I was dropping the book. I can now say I’ll be back for issue #4.

Where to begin? Travel Forman’s art finally delivers for me, his grotesque depictions of Buddy Baker traveling through The Red, and The Hunters Three (disgusting creatures all) literally crawling out of their skins made this the horror title everyone said it was supposed to be. And Jeff Lemire has ratcheted up the tension now to where I’m actually looking forward to the next issue.

All in all, this book is my pick of the week because, contrary to popular belief, sometimes it’s nice to be wrong about something.

  1. Yeah, I totally agree about the horror aspect bought to this hero title. This is a page turner for me, and after every issue, I want more.
