This is taking the Venom symbiote mythos in an interesting new direction, which is totally different than the direction it is taking in another Spider-man title that came out this week.
And this is an altogether satisfying and interesting issue that continues the very good work we've gotten in BND so far.
But what I really want to talk about is one little, bitty line at the beginning of this book, when Pete realizes that Norman Osborn doesn't know he's Spider-man. He says to himself: "Ah, right. He doesn't remember anymore. He has no idea I'm Spidey. Nobody does. Everything we did is still up and running." [emphasis in original]
WTF, BND?!? Are you trying to tell me that Peter knows what he and MJ did? No, that makes no sense given the other stories so far. It doesn't follow what was set out in OMD. Mephisto said that they would feel a hollowness, a "sense" that something was missing, but not that they would know what was missing.
Ok, someone from Marvel needs to respond to this pronto. Because all of us frickin' know there's a man behind the curtain, but we can't keep ignoring him if you keep pulling the curtain back.

Oh Oh ok, I say something about Eddie Brock’s line and everyone craps me on it. But you and your great review beats me too another continuity mistake…I see how it is……
I’m just joking man, good call on that….I read that too and I’m like, ‘wtf his he talking about!?’ Really screwed up there Marvel.
heh. Yeah thanks. I’m hoping that this will all be explained soon. But I’m guessing it’s going to be a long haul before they do.
How come whenever there’s mystery in a comic that people don’t understand, they say it’s a continuity error? I can personally guarantee that the "we" line is completely intentional on the part of the writers and the editorial team. Not only may it be just a red herring, but Quesada and the gang have emphatically stated that the OMD storyline will not be over until mid-09. You might not like it, but that doesn’t make it a continuity error.
I agree with you, that’s its not an "error," that it’s something planned, but that doesn’t make it less frustrating to me. Especially because it’s a throwaway line at the beginning of a story that has nothing to do with it. Well, there was one other reference to the identity issue in relation to Osborn. Hmmm, I just feel like this is going to be a long burn and I feel a little jerked around by it.
I’m willing to come back later and say: "Oh, THAT’S what he meant by that line. I guess I should have had faith." Until then, however, I think that bit of dialogue wrecked the whole issue, because it shatters the BND premise, which, although weak, I had been willing to swallow up to this point.
