I think that if this book was coming out monthly it would annoy me a great deal.  Thankfully it’s out three times a month and the quick pace has me really enjoying it.  Whereas monthly I’d have four weeks to dwell on how much I hate the fact that Jackpot is either Mary Jane or such a lame ploy to make us think she’s MJ that it’s insulting, with a tri-monthly series it’s easier to overlook those flaws.  Even the annoying art is easy to overlook.

This is Spider-Man as I remember him from being a kid.  The fun Spider-Man who makes cracks wise while saving New York from threat after threat.  Not that it’s all fluff, there’s some heavy stuff in here including an unexpected death.  Still it’s fun, it’s a throw back to how comics used to make me feel reading them when I’d read a Spider-Man alongside a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Alf or Archie book.

Which isn’t to say that it’s childish, just so much fun it touches the child inside us all.  In an appropriate manner.

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 1 - Poor
