After last month’s conclusion to the first arc of Morrison’s arc on Action Comics, Issue #9 is a nice change of pace. I gave the comic a month’s reprieve from the chopping block and I’m glad I did. The Superman of Earth 23 is a compelling character with a unique personality and story. His world feels different and well constructed which is par for the course with a Morrison universe. I’m not sure how he keeps his identity a secret but I’m definitely in to see where this storyline goes.
The backup about President Superman dealing with a rouge nation’s nuclear program was topical enough to be engaging while further fleshing out the character and the contradictions inherent to it. Highly recommended even for those that have taken a break from the recent run of Action Comics.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
