Ben Oliver doesn’t draw people very well. Everything else – crisp and pretty. Just not so much with the people and faces. This, however, being a comic and not a travelogue, was a bit problematic for me. In the scene where Clark and Jimmy are playing video games, Clark is drawn with the face of a 45 year old english professor, while Jimmy Olson is drawn and colored to look like a dark and puckish x-men heavy in the making.

Art aside, there were so many great character moments in this: Clark getting his Superman shirts printed up, The little kid stealing Clarks cape and using it to escape a beating at home, Clark thanking the little kid for taking such good care of his cape when he gets it back. This is how you tell a Superman story, by focusing on all the character moments between the battles and heroism.
