  1. Surprised how well this has held my attention in issue form. Really amazing stuff.

  2. The best vertigo book being published right now……. scalped is overrated…. josh and conor, please don’t ban me…

  3. Loooooove this book.

  4. @JimBilly4 You and me both. I dropped this twice thinking it would read better in trades. I couldn’t hold out, though, and ended up buying the issues anyway. I just can’t live without this book every month.

  5. It is very good but what is good about it is the concept and the storytelling.  I still really don’t care about any of the characters.  None of them are particularly interesting or likable – they’re all just witnesses to events which is fine, but compelling characters, even in the smallest of roles, is why Fables and Scalped still rule to roost.

  6. @kmob I’d have to agree, I love the high concept of this but don’t care about any characters

  7. I have issues 7-13 sitting around unread. Until I play catch-up on those, I’m dropping this title.

  8. Yes, this is totally a concept book, but.. what a concept!  I need Carey to keep fleshing out his ideas, filling in his big picture.  The one-off issues have been especially awesome.

  9. @Rusty What about the swearing rabbit? I want him to get his own Christmas special.

I like the character of Tommy, but he is the semi-rational center around which all this craziness revolves. I think you are right that the supporting cast has not yet delivered really compelling characters. THis is partly because they are getting killed off regularly and partly because in the interest of story mystery Carey doesn’t let them on screen for too long. I think the Monster has some potential, as well as the creepy killer guy (whose name escapes me).

  10. I really should switch to trades for this series. I keep forgetting the plot from issue to issue. The one thing that still has me hooked are the cliff hangers.

  11. This book is always fun.

  12. I’m ready for some narrative facts to come from this series. I like the book. It’s good. I’m just ready to stop specutlating about who or what Tommy really is and know for sure.
