  1. Josh’s review made this feels a bit murky. I mean he didn’t make it out to be a bad issue but my thoughts on the writing seemed almost justified before it even hits Wednesday. But Ribic is the real reason for me to get this series and I hope he doesn’t disappoint.

  2. This has one issue to impress me.

    • I would give it at least two. I’m sure the first issue will be good but mostly just foundation. According to the Don’t Miss interview it sounds like the real shit is going to hit the fan with issue 2. Just FYI

    • If you’re only going to give Hickman, who writes almost exclusively in long form, you might as well quit now. Its a slow burn comic.

  3. I’m really interested in seeing what Hickman does with The Ultimates, but he usually takes a few issues to really get things rolling. I’ll give it a few issues and see how it goes.

  4. Not a huge Hickman fan, but I’ll give this a shot.

  5. i’ll give it a shot, but its on a short leash.

  6. Am I making a mistake getting this, or will it be better to trade wait?

  7. Cover is AWEFUL…

    • Yes, keeping in line with all great Ultimate titles, the cover is terrible because they spend more time on the interior. Tradition my friend, tradition.

  8. The ultimate universe used to be my thing so im onboard this relaunch

  9. Wow. More Hickman hating on here than I expected. I thought his ONLY other Ultimate title, Ultimate Thor, was pretty awesome. No real reason to think this would be any different…

  10. Hickman was great on the Ultimate Thor mini, definitely interested to see what he comes up with for the whole Ultimates team.

  11. I know it shouldn’t matter, but I hate the title. Ultimate Comics Ultimates?

I’ll give it the first issue,

  12. Oh wow this was a lot of fun! I was kinda thrown off by the art at first but ribic’s style really started to shine towards the middle and end. Can’t wait to see what hickman has planned for this!

  13. Pretty good first issue. Hickman killed, but, man, the lettering at the beginning was rough.

  14. I really enjoyed this…but like Josh said in his review, the next issue or two will really make or break it. I’m optimistic about where this could go.

The art was really interesting, and Dean White’s colors were a really nice compliment to Ribic’s art.

That title card thing….its so default Hickman, and the letter spacing was really inconsistent and poor. Total fumbled that opportunity.

  15. I’m excited for this and even a little excited for Ultimate X

  16. I’m a Hickman fan, so I liked the writing. This was a good set-up issue with great art. Ribic is damn good. I’m interested enough to pick up #2, and most likely in for the ride since I like Ultimates already.

    The BAD:
    1. $3.99 for 20 pages of story? At least DC kept prices at $2.99 when they cut to 20 pages. It feels very light. 🙁
    2. Stupid ploybag AGAIN? Sheesh, Marvel, knock it off. Think of how much trash are you generatind with these.

    • Yeah, did anyone get why this was polybagged? I mean, besides, for pure, raw greed? I didn’t really notice any major spoilers that needed protecting . . .

  17. This was amazing. I like how Hickman writes Fury, and Ribic’s art was just great. Sticking with this in the long haul.
