Not as good as last week’s issue, but important development. Perhaps it is because I am new to comic books in general and definitely a new reader to these long arc stories, but I fail to see how a book like this can be judged by so many in such a short period of time. With a plot this large, it seems of necessity that some issues have to be plot set ups, which are less exciting, to allow for the smaller climaxes along the way.
I see this week’s issue as one that is more about setting plot.
Yet another week of solid fun story telling. I am very interested in seeing what happens with Sun-chained-in-ink. I hope this is not the last we see of him. They wasted the Jokester in Countdown and hope they don’t continue that trend here.
I look forward to this book more and more as the weeks go on. This is exactly what I want to read right now: a well-crafted superhero story that takes advantage of the scope of the DCU and its continuity instead of being a slave to it, with beautiful art to match. I realize the fanboy masses have deemed this "UNIMPORTANT" as they did with Brave & the Bold (another wonderful book) but it’s a total breath of fresh air in the middle of the world of cross-overs and writing for the trade that we now live in.
And Goody-Goody Deathstroke is the best.
I thought it was pretty good. The story is picking up a lot. It still feels weird because of Final Crisis going on and this having nothing to do with anything but as a stand alone story its good fun.
I am liking this book more than JLA right now.
I don’t like the "stick it out" angle. If you’ve stuck it out so far, you’ve spent $42. That’s alot of money to invest in the beginning of a story. If they’re going to tell 52 part stories, they need to figure out how to do that without pouring molasses into the main arc.
