  1. Been avoiding Fraction books like the plague, but Pasqual Ferry art is hard to pass up.

  2. Buying this for Fraction. This will be the first time I’ve bought a single issue of Thor. I’ve read a few trades but never ever picked up the monthly book

  3. Nothing against Gillen, but I’ve been waiting for this to come out since JMS left. So ready.

  4. I really hope this whole issue isn’t as mopey and emo as the preview made it look.

  5. @caseyjustice right there with you. The first few Gillen issues were fine but I just wasn’t into the story. Having said that, not a huge fan of Ferry especially with this uninked style

  6. If this run is half as good as Thor: The Mighty Avenger, I’ll be very happy. Great time to be a Thor fan.

  7. I’m a big fan of Fraction.  here’s hoping this lives up to expectations..

  8. I have been buying all Thor since the JMS run. Will give this a shot.

  9. Fraction will probably say Mjolnir is made out of concrete or something stupid like that, just like he called Iron Man’s boots simple jet rockets.  Loved Ferry’s stuff on Adam Strange from awhile back.

  10. I will be checking out the characterizations of the Asgardians et al. If matt does them well, like Iron Man, I am in for a while. If they are like the X-men… well… Another ship will come and pick me up soon, I am sure of it.

  11. @RoiVampire – Also my first time picking up a Thor issue. With the movie coming up, I figure I’ve got to start learning about this character somewhere.

  12. While I like Thor, I’ll pick this up purely for  Fraction.

  13. Finally Fraction is on Thor! Never thought it would happen 😛

  14. @Franktiger – Yeah I bet he he will say that the power rests in Thor and not Mjolnir.

  15. Not too impressed with this, but I think I need to give this run a bit more room to stretch its legs.

  16. I was pleasantly surprised to see this one had thirty full pages of story for four bucks. I’d been missing Thor recently, and I hadn’t been interested in a single project that Ferry had done since he left DC, so I picked it up.

This is definitely the good Fraction, as the story clicked along at a nice pace without any unnecessary or forced humor.

Still, there’s not enough here to make me break my four dollar/22 page embargo for future issues, but it might be worth checking out in trade.

It’s also good to see that Ferry hasn’t lost his touch since Adam Strange.

  17. I’m a fan of Fraction and Ferry, but neither of them seemed to be bringing their A-game to the table for this issue. It wasn’t bad, no, nor was it good. It was just sort of there, without anything to really latch onto to make a judgement call. In on sense it’s picking up right after siege, and yet we’ve had 5 issues of post-siege books for Gillen. I’m definitely intrigued by it, but this didn’t seem like anything. Definitely not the Fraction from the Ages of Thunder one-shots. 3/5. (As well, I don’t appreciate Tigor from the Omega Men leading the vanguard of the attack!)

  18. I had to laugh at the first few pages, it’s like Fraction read "Norse Mythology For Dummies" and did a book report on it.

  19. @Malecema – Or he was explaining a few key parts for readers that don’t know jack about it?

    I absolutely loved this.

  20. @drakedangerz:  It wasn’t a bad thing to include it, I just didn’t think it was done very well.  It was very heavy handed.

  21. @Drake, @Malecema Heavy handed, and entirely too much time devoted to a simple concept that has been, to my knowledge, repeated at least once a story arc for as long as Thor has been around. :-p

  22. For those who think fraction doesn’t understand Norse mythology: read his Thor: ages of thunder. fraction knows it ALL. The fact that he does some recalling for new readers can’t be held against him, particularly when said recap also manages to incorporate the threat for the arc and does so with wit (won’t give away that surprise)

  23. The art was great but didn’t feel it was a Thor centric story enough for me in a restart issue.

  24. Knew Fraction would disappoint me somewhere in this, wasn’t a surprise when he did really, but I don’t think Thor would say, "What the Hel?"  Lame.
