  1. The covers on this series are great. I’m still not 100% sold on this book, but out of love for Lemire’s work I’m going to stick with it for a little longer…as long as Connor doesn’t wear those glasses again.

  2. read the last issue at my store enjoyed it thought it was fun nice art with very nice colouring

  3. I feel very similar to Zeppo. Love Lemire and hope this book starts to take off or at least come together more. Also it would be great if the art on the faces improved.

  4. I’m enjoying it. I think I’m in for the first storyline.

  5. I’m staying for now. I thought Lemire’s dialogue between Conner and Ivy was cringe worthy. I’ll give him a few more issues to sell me or I’m out.

  6. Wow.  I haven’t been hating this as much as other have.  I’m getting this, but all the haters convinced me not to add to my LCS pull.  C’mon Lemire, bring me something to love.

  7. Not only am I not hating this, I am really enjoying it, one of my most anticipated of the week

  8. This is fun and I love the characters, but there’s no real hook for me yet.  I may be getting enough of Superboy in Teen Titans.

  9. I don’t get the hate. This is all kinds of fun.

  10. I don’t hate the story, but I find it terribly mediocre, which is sometimes worse.  The art on the other hand… I have no idea why anyone likes it. This issue is make-or-break

  11. I do wish i had waited for this in trade cuz I think it will probably read much better when collected, but Lemire just injects so much heart into his stories that I can’t pass this up.

  12. Is it true that superboy has a flying dog?

  13. I hope I didn’t give the impression that I hate the book, as that’s not true. Like others have said there’s just no hook at the moment. Silver-age style story telling doesn’t alwayswork for me, and the art isn’t to my taste. It’s a solid 3/5 everytime, I was just expecting more from Lemire, my fault not his.

  14. Again, I’d echo Zeppo, no hate for the book but just haven’t been wowed yet. It’s fun enough and it has only had 2 issues but it just hasn’t really done anything to really grab me.

  15. @deadspace  Yes. Krypto.

  16. It really surprises me how mixed the reactions to this book are. I’m loving everything about it so far. Can’t wait for this issue.

  17. So far this has been a solid start for Lemire and Gallo. Looking forward to more of this tomorrow.

  18. This is the only book I give a shit about this week.  I probably won’t even read Brightest Day until I have like five unread issues of it stacked up, and I already read Walking Dead Weekly #1 when it was called Walking Dead #1…

Shit week but I’m broke anyway…

  19. The art isn’t spectacular but its not bad either. Maybe i’m just really looking for a solid all ages Superman fix and this is it. I actually got really excited for what this series could be after that mini preview at the end of the first issue…

  20. This issue really clicked for me on all fronts. Writing is really solid and I love how it’s more of a character book then the typical ‘Punch everything in sight’ type of ‘Super’ book. Also, Gallo’s art really worked for me with this issue. Some really gorgeous pages in here, especially the one where Connor is walking to school.

    5/5 (POTW)

  21. Incredibly solid. This and Justice League: Generation lost have been great for DC because the writing has been so consistently good that each issue has been a treat.

  22. The art in this issue is inconsistent and generally weak, but the story is a lot of fun.

  23. The art isn’t amazing but it works.  I’m loving the story though, and loved Conner’s idea that he ran by Bart… I’m looking forward to seeing the next couple storylines, especially with Superboy’s pal Simon.  Moments in this book give me a Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen feel, and Im kinda curious to see whether that is something that continues.

  24. Has anyone else noticed that this, Steel #1, and Batman Beyond all have the same cover this week?? Funny stuff.

  25. @MoodSmoothie  DC is doing a cover theme this month. All the main books have the same cover design.

  26. After looking at all the other character designs in the book, I’ve decided that Pier Gallo hasn’t seen a teenager since ’96

  27. This issue was more of what I was expecting. I’m still not sold on the art but I’m getting used to it. The story telling is great. Sweet Tooth was POTW but this is an improvement and more of what I’d expect from Lemire.

  28. Loved this. My POTW on what was a light week. The art could be a bit better, but it works.

  29. @conor  – Oh, ok. I didn’t know that. I thought it was a crazy coincidence. Thanks for the info!

  30. Another great issue. The Then and Now stuff always bugs me, but it was simple to follow. Conner is an idiot. He’s making mistakes with his personal life left and right. Telling his friend that they can’t be friends at school is probably going to bite him (Or his friend) in the ass sometime soon.

  31. Not sure where I’m going with this book…I think I want to like it much more than I actually do. The art is not selling me in the slightest, but I love the character of Conner, and the story feels awkward and very out of place and time.

  32. @Minion  –of course he’s an idiot…he’s a TEENAGER.

i’ve been trying to defend the art in this book, but after this issue with Conor dressed as “the effeminate foreign exchange student” and the weird colors, its hard for me to want to spend any more money on this.
