  1. Is this an ongoing series or a one off issue?

Either way, I’ll be getting this. I’m really liking anthology comics atm, stuff like Wednesday Comics etc.

If anyone wouldn’t mind telling me some other good ones, I’d be hugely grateful! (Message me if it’s not allowed here).

  2. A Rafeal Grampa cover?

Now I have to buy it.

  3. @Doddsickle It’s neither a one shot nor an ongoing. It’s a three issue miniseries. If Strange Tales 3 interests you, I recommend hunting down the previous three issues Strange Tales series as well. It’s in the same vein as this series.

  4. I managed to miss Strange Tales 1 which sucks! But I am well looking forward to this, the cover makes the purchase worth it alone! It’s been my screen saver on my iphone since the solicits… although I think there is an amazing inverted colour (red splash) variant which is lovely

  5. @Doddsickle – If you are enjoying anthology types of series right now you should check out the Liberty Comics Annual that came out last week. Lots of great creators doing anything from pin-ups to couple page shorts. I think it was the third in the series. The other two were really good. They also benefit the CBLDF. Track down the first Strange Tales Vol released last year. Finally, you may want to check out the Vertigo Resurrected Winter’s Edge issue coming out in December. It is a reprint issue, but it is 100 pages collecting various stories from tons of different Vertigo creators like Gaiman, Azzarello, Pope, Vaughn and featuring characters like The Endless, Swamp Thing, Hellblazer, etc. If you’re at all unfamiliar with the Vertigo line it looks like it will be a nice primer.

  6. Kate Beaton alone is worth the cover price.

I loved the last series, looking forward to this.

  7. Kate Beaton and Rafael Grampa alone is just SO GOOD.

  8. Rafael Grampa is the shit

  9. Kate Beaton, Jeffrey Brown, Jeff Lemire, Johonen Vasquez. and Rafael Grampa are the creators I am looking forward too.

  10. Lemire and Grampa…SOLD.

  11. I really regret not picking up Strange Tales I in issues, because I still haven’t gotten around to getting the collection.  This time though, I’m going to get the issues!

  12. @Doddsickle – If you’re interested in a really good indie anthology, check out MOME from fantagraphics.  It’s 14.99,  but the format is like a TPB and it’s quarterly.  They’re up to vol. 18 or 19 now.  great stuff!  Also…anytime you come across old Dark Horse Presents, pick those up! Granted, they can be hit or miss, but they are always lots of fun, especially if you can get a short run that consists of at least one full story.

  13. I wish DC would do another bizarro world/comics trade/HD.

  14. @Doddsickle/jwaesch: I second MOME recommendation. One of the best series to come out in the past decade.

  15. was the last mini a MAX title?

  16. Why is Rafael Grampa not drawing every single cover right now? He deserves to be.

  17. WHOA. Ok, everyone go out and buy this right now. WHOA

  18. Wow, great anthology, one or two stories that missed for me but the Lemire, grampa, Vasquez, and beaton stories were fantastic!

  19. picked this up because of the cover and it blew me away. so happy to see a jhonen vasquez anything! a big week but this was very much my POTW.

  20. Well now I have a good reason to buy anything with Rafael Grampa. Good lord what a fantastic sequence by him in this. Then you have Kate Beaton doing some hilarious Kraven work. Top it off with the disturbed mind of Jhonen Vasquez and one of the best Man-Thing stories every by Jeff Lemire. Not every story works but this is a visual tour de force the entire issue.

    5/5 (POTW)

  21. my shop didn’t order this….kinda funny though, me asking about it, started a giant conversation with me, 2 other customers and the shop owners about how hard the Direct Market Model sucks big ones. Classic tale of, we only order things people will buy….we don’t know if anyone wants to buy this kinda thing.

maybe i can get it in a week or two..
