  1. Does anyone know if this is the first issue to be collected in the 4th trade?

  2. Yea, I believe it’s supposed to be.

  3. COME ON PEOPLE!!!! THIS BOOK NEEDS MORE PULLS!!!!

  4. MONTHLY folks, c’mon! Get on board.

  5. welp im just saying this right now. this is my first issue of Scalped I am trying out. I am trying it out because of the great reviews it gets by the iFanboys and I am very intrested in this series. Im hoping i can stick with it!! I am buying the 2 trades tomorroe so i cant wait!!

  6. Another series where, I’m sorry to say, I just dont see why this is continuing.

Granted, it’s a good story, I actually like it. But with poor sales I am surprised this hasnt been cancelled yet. Considering it’s highest pull to date was only 105….I doubt this gets much pulls in general anywhere else. Dont be surprised if we see this gone soon, hey it’s a nice story while it lasted.

  7. @TheNextChampion – iFanboy pulls are not indicative of overall sales or trade paperback sales.  In fact many books that receive a high number of pulls here do not sell well in general. Vertigo books sell about this much in issues and make up most of their sales in trades.  Hellblazer has about the same number of pulls here and that book’s not going anywhere.

But your incessent positivity is a ray of sunshine, as always.

  8. Woah! Nice cover! Anyone know who it is?

I love this book. I hope it’s not goin’ anywhere anytime soon!

  9. @conor: and you sounding like a postitive dick all the time makes my day too. *winks* lol

I understand that pulls dont mean overall sales. But you did an article on books like this getting low pulls. Well shouldnt that mean low sales as well? Find me a sales chart and where Scalped as been put on in the last 2-3 issues. I bet it’s not even in the top 100 books sold a month.

  10. @The NextChampioj – Again, the single issues sales doesn’t matter as much.  Vertigo books make most of their tales in trades.

Also, we don’t do name calling here.

  11. Cover by Tim Bradstreet.  Me, I miss Jock, but it’s a nice cover.

  12. @conor: Sorry, my bad….you’d think I wouldnt have said anything after the Powers fiasco. Sorry my friend, it wont happen again….what I should’ve said:

‘Your such a positive influence on the community’. lol

Seriously, I’ll stop making fun, but you are right….they probably get more money in trades then in single issues.

  13. Is the point that people shouldn’t recommend books they really like if they don’t sell a lot?

Cuz that’s ridiculous.  If you don’t recommend books that people don’t know about, we’re always talking about the same thing, and no one discovers anything new.  The most common email we get from people is "Thanks for talking about ________!  I didn’t know about it, and now I love the book."

So you’re suggesting we stop that?

  14. @josh: Well I…..

*remembers Powers fiasco from last week*

    ….never mind (keeps mouth shut)

Should I just call myself the most hated poster on ifanboy? ^^’

  15. Vertigo seems  to start, continue and cancel books for willy-nilly reasons.  Why did cancel American Virgin and Exterminators?  Why did they even put out a single issue of Un-men?

I think eventually they’ll move more towards the "seasons" format like they’re doing with Army@Love.  Dark Horse has been doing that for years with Hell Boy, and that method makes a lot of sense in today’s market.

  16. Even if this book never has great sales, it may still stick around just because of all the critical acclaim.  It reminds me of The Wire – It always got shit ratings but HBO kept bringing it back because just about every media outlet on the planet gushed over it.  I’d assume that’s pretty important to a company like DC as well, and Scalped is probably the most universally praised book on the shelves these days

  17. I just want the iFanboys to know that this is my FIRST issue of Scalped and I am very very excited to start this series. I plan on getting the 2 trades and all the issues up-to-date after the second trade. I cant wait. Im very excited!!

  18. @rayclark

    YA!

one of us. one of us. one of us. one of us.

  19. @rayclark– I picked this up in the iFan-recommendation and ended up going back and getting the run. My advice is to give it more than a single issue to sink its hooks in–for me it took the 1st trade. I was blown away by the art and story pacing enough to buy in.

  20. @rayclark — You won’t regret it, mate! My advice would be to get the trades first & read from the start in order to get the most out of it. It might cost a little more to buy a whole trade to see if you like it, but I think once you read that first trade you won’t wanna stop.

  21. Why are people saying Scalped will be cancelled? Is it something to do with Aaron signing with Marvel, or it just speculation?

  22. @Wade- I’m pretty sure that Aaron had a clause worked into his Marvel exclusive that lets him continue to work on Scalped unhindered.

I’m sure all of the cancellation talks is just driven by pure numbers.

I bought the full run off of ebay last month, and it’s true what everyone is saying…this is the best ongoing series out there.  Better than Criminal…in fact, it’s criminal that this series is better than Criminal.

  23. @Wadewilson

because comic fans are negative-nancies and expect everything good to fail.

  24. This is my favorite book going right now. I just finished re-reading the 2nd collected volume which is a real powerhouse. I’m buying anything Jason Aaron puts his name on these days. If you read this and haven’t read "The Other Side" by Aaron order it now!

  25. easily my POTW

  26. @TomO — I hope you’re right about that clause!

    @MisterBlank — LOL. I think you’re right, mate.

Wow, how good was this issue, though? I was a little late reading it, because I had a busy few days of booze, broads & bullets (without so much of the latter two) and just read it last night. I can’t believe how good this series continues to be. That’s 19 for 19 issues that were ALL good, if you ask me. There’s not many books you can say that about.

Hopefully we have at least another 19 to come!!
