  1. I really liked the preview I read of this, I think it was in the FCBD Image book. It’s also been other places. The story is interesting and the art looks nice – what else do I need?

This was a book that I didn’t even know that I wanted.

Hearing about it awhile ago it seemed more like a zombie horror than a hybrid of BPRD and Fargo. I’m also thankful for the preview during FCBD. Picked up the Craig Thompson cover (which is gorgeous) and hope the series can keep the mysteries aplenty like this first issue.

I may pick this up too. May wait to read a couple of reviews first though. The “zombie” genre in comics has gotten so tired. This looks like it may be something fresh though…

  3. I’m intrigued but not entirely sold yet. I love the team and their work, but for some reason I’ve been hesitant on this one. I didn’t care for the teasers/promos they did leading up to the announcement which I think soured me from the start but I’ll definitely give it a shot and see how it goes.

  4. I’m interested in this, but getting it depends on the size of my comic stack on the day.

  5. This is good, guys. It’s not a zombie book, it’s really not.

  6. Agree with Rory. It’s not a zombie book. I almost didn’t bother with this either and hadn’t read any previews of it or anything but what a surprise hit of a first issue this was! If it continues like this it’s gonna be one really great comic series. If you’re even considering getting this – do it!

  7. Wow. That was amazing! Had no idea what to expect, but this hits all the right creepy notes. I think BPRD meets Fargo is a decently accurate description. Love it when a new series gets me this ramped up. Image strikes yet again!

  8. This was awesome, definetly something new and fresh if you were afraid of this being just another zombie book I really didn’t feel that way reading this plus you don’t even learn that much about what’s going on an why all this stuff is happening which leaves u wanting more.

Hey was that an alien in the woods in that scene? Wtf was that?!

  9. This is a book that will go to the top of my reading pile each month. I wasn’t even going to get it, but the cover pulled me in. Totally not your typical zombie book. It had all the elements of a great issue 1, in my opinion anyway. It definitely left me wanting more and I can’t wait to see how this story unfolds.

  10. POTW hands down. As I wrote in my review, this feels like the spiritual successor to The Walking Dead.

  11. Told ya it was gonna be good – I actually loved it. It made me realize why I read comics – sometimes everything just comes together and achieves awesomeness.

  12. If it weren’t for the sheer gut-wrenching emotional impact of TWD #100, this would have easily been my PotW. I find myself still thinking about that comic 2 days later, and that’s kinda hard to f-ck with. I definitely see this becoming one of my top 5 favorite books.

  13. Nice surprise, and I look forward to next issue.

    The barn scenes? Nearly perfect.

  14. When I saw the phrase “rural noir” on the cover, that’s all the convincing I needed to pick it up. The book being incredible and getting my POTW was unexpected, but it really is that good. Can’t wait to see where this goes.

  15. I would have laid money on s bet that Batman would have been my PotW.

Revival issue 1 gets it, though. It shows real promise, and was surprising good.

I keep thinking about scenes from this issue days after reading it. Kudos to the creators and Image!

    Bring on issue 2! 🙂

  16. …. Cooper ….

  17. I asked my comic book guy for this purely because the name sounded interesting and it was a #1.

I heard it was zombie-related but this is considerably separate to the Walking Dead and all others of the genre I have so far read. Within the first issue, it sets out some interesting questions that will definitely keep me interested for the forseeable.

I hope it gets a chance to build its own fanbase and avoid obvious comparisons.

I do find myself more and more drawn to Image comics. Over the past year, they are reeleasing a lot of high quality titles that go off in their own direction.

This is my POTW however it is worth pointing out I’ve not read WD#100 yet.
