  1. Good book, good not great.

Definitely worth your time though, especially if War Journal isnt your type of Punisher. Love this series and unless the quality just dips down uncontrollably; I will still love this series no matter who the writer is.

  2. i jumped on this book with this arc and i’ve been pretty impressed.  it had been years since i collected any punisher books, but i always held a soft spot for frank – when i started reading this title, it was like i got to catch up with an old friend.  an old friend who had gotten even more bitter and angy and violent…  this story reads like a screenplay to me.

  3. I’ve been liking this so far, the art is great and the story is good, looking forward to this one.

  4. Yea i jumped on this and i wish i could have read some of Garth Ennis run on it. But its good so far and am glad to have a pissed off frank castle back in my life

  5. @SDcomicfan: If you know a story that carries the trade, pick up some of Ennis’s run. I mean it’s kinda cheap; 12.99-14.99 for each trade. He’s got a lot of one-shot issues as well in trade format. The most recent, Punisher: From First to Last, had some good stories and great artists on them.

But now that I think about it, I gotta get the trinity to read Deadpool and Punisher MAX…Man I hope I’m a good as salesman as I am a comic fan.

  6. Well I thought this was, hands down, the POTW. Hurwitz knows how to write Frank Castle and that whole suicide part of the issue was really tense.

The next issue is gonna be a blood-bath, I can tell. The crap the bad guys did to Castle in this issue; he’s gonna want a river of blood to from cause of this. Awesome.

  7. I was worried after Ennis left, that this book would suffer, but Hurwitz nails it. I hope he gets the regular gig after the next two writers get finished, so there will still be one good Punisher book out there ( I still begrudging read War Journal, although I am almost always disapointed with it… why is Fraction so good with Tony Stark and so bad with Frank Castle?)

  8. This was fantastic.  The gritty prose used a great poetic technique, and the idea that Frank was willing to "punish" himself was a great indicator of how zealous he is about his war.

  9. This has become my top Marvel book. The current arc is amazing. Classic Punisher.
