  1. I think this is the book that really makes me aware of how much I’m spoiled by double shipping Marvel books.

I think I’m still enjoying New Avengers, but I’m not 100% certain because the previous issue came out A WHOLE MONTH AGO.

31-year old me can’t remember how 13-year old me dealt with all his comics coming out at the near-glacial pace of every 30 days.

    • Ken,

52-year old me has to read entire arcs in GNs now.

Daredevil and for a while Amazing Spider-man were the only recent books I have wanted to read right away,

I want the whole movie, (or season) to read at my leisure.

I keep saying I’m gonna jump back into day-and-date, but I never stay that way for long anymore.

I might read these and Avengers this summer, along with All-New and Uncanny X-Men.

Both have that two-to-one double-ship ratio about now: a dozen of one and half-a-dozen of the sister title.

      Good summer vacation stuff.

    • Isn’t there a six month wait between trades though? I feel like I have this problem either way. My best solution is re-reading the previous stuff in anticipation with the new. And with Hickman you’ll get a lot more out of it; it’s apart necessary. Just my 2 copper pieces…

  2. My favorite Avengers title!

  3. The members alone sold me on this title, the way Hickman writes them is great.

  4. Great Book!

  5. Another super awesome issue I presume, shame it’s Epting’s last issue for??????

  6. So we’re gonna have, hopefully, more Dr. Doom by Hickman in this issue. How can that not be exciting?

Always enjoy this book. My second favourite Avengers book after Young.

  8. Wow. This is the issue that everything clicked for me.

  9. When are we gonna have a mini or ongoing with Hickman on Dr. Doom? Seriously, even just a page of the guy was enough to catapult this to a 4-star rating. Well that and the continuing reveals for killing Earth’s and Epting’s art helps too. Amazing how much more story Hickman can pack into a, seamingly simple idea. Shame this is the last of Epting we’re gonna get for a while though.

    4/5

  10. Having spent most of my time in the X-Men corner of the Marvel Universe, I never had much exposure to Doctor Doom. In just a few short panels, this issue explained to me why he is one of the heavy-hitters of the Marvel Universe.

  11. This book continues to be soooooo great.

  12. So this wasn’t my favorite issue. But… when I tried to give it 3 stars a dialogue box just popped up saying ‘error’. So, I guess I’m wrong lol.

  13. This issue had zero action. What saved it was snarky Namor and the beautiful renderings of Black Swan.

Beast “Wants/Needs” line doesn’t flow from the ongoing dialogue, wasn’t the only time either.

  14. ‘I love Hickman. I love the cast. I love the big stakes. Something still isn’t clicking for me on this book despite everything it has going for it. Maybe Hickman’s cold style? I don’t feel that way about any of his other books and I read them all. I just don’t know.

Loved Black Panther guys line about how he was remmebering who he was. And Doom was bad ass even though only in for a couple of panels.

  16. Another sound as a pound issue from a great series, not my pick that went to the truly awesome B.P.R.D. Vampire #3. But close!
