  1. First issue didn’t blow me away, but the back matter piqued my interest. It’s a light week, and I’m interested in the world Rucka and Lark have created, so I’ll be picking this up. I just hope that my vision of what I want this book to he doesn’t stand in the way of my enjoyment of it if its not what I was hoping for. I don’t think thats gonna make sense to anyone else.

    • I totally hear what you’re saying. Sometimes based on solicits, previews, and creators previous work you inadvertently create an image in your head of what a book will be, and when it’s different it can throw you off. I did the same kind of thing with The Massive. It really made me dislike the first couple of arcs but now I am completely sucked into that book. Stick with this and maybe after an arc or so it’ll click with you. If not, drop it!

  2. I had intended only to read the first issue, just out of curiosity, but the story hooked me rather unexpectedly. This ranks really high on my pull-list in terms of anticipation-factor. Can’t wait.

  3. Really like the first issue, going to keep going. But the creative team makes me miss Gotham Central… 🙁

  4. Sticking with this.

  5. The first issue was enjoyable and with this creative team we should have some good times.

But I hope there is some twists coming that aren’t obvious. I’m not saying I’m a genius or anything (well….) but it’s hard not to see where this is going after the first issue when it comes to Forever.

  6. I’m a big fan of Rucka, and I haven’t read the first issue yet (I’m trying to say I’m going say something out of ignorance, not ass hatery). But I wonder if this is an outlet for some of his Batwoman stories that he didn’t get to tell, or if it will truly be a unique and fully realized story on it’s own?

  7. The general direction of the story seems easy to guess at. It would be nice to be wrong, of course. That said, I’m satisfied with just the world building going on here. That’s what has me hooked on East of West and it’s what’s hooked me on Lazarus.

  8. Gonna have to trade wait on this.

  9. First issue was incredible, surpassed my expectations easily. Looking forward to this week.

  10. I dragged my feet before giving this one a shot. I sorta dismissed it as another violent, bloodfest (based on the previews I saw). So glad I gave this a shot. Lazarus is a well-crafted story with incredible art. Will definitely be picking this up in trade!

  11. The entire time I was reading this issue I just kept thinking “This is so cool” to myself. Great world building from Rucka and Lark on this issue. The scenes in Los Angeles and Mexico were pretty fantastic.

  12. Well this issue makes sure this story won’t be ENTIRELY predictable. This family dynamic is utterly bizarre and I’m sure Rucka is gonna make this twisted and fun to read. Although the whole ‘Forever’ character is not as complex as she probably could be. You can still tell where that part of the story is going. Also, is it just me or was Lark’s pencils a bit rough? It was a good looking issue but not as clean as his pencils usually are.

    • ” Although the whole ‘Forever’ character is not as complex as she probably could be. You can still tell where that part of the story is going”
      Please elaborate on this sentence.

  13. First of all, what a cover! Secondly, just as in the initial issue, the story and art just flow effortlessly together. Finally, I always enjoy the reports on modern science provided by the creative team after the fantasy portion ends. Enjoying this book!

  14. Man, the Carlyles are one fucked up family.

  15. What a Fantastic issue! Rucka is one of my favourite writers and he is not disappointing with this series. Lark is incredible as always.

  16. Not totally sure how I feel about this. My interest is peaked enough to keep reading, I guess. It seems like Rucka has a vision of the world he is building, I’m just hoping he can take me along for the ride without losing me along the way. If that makes sense…

  17. I was really into this issue until the whole “Lannister” reveal. Still really digging this series but that scene dropped this from a hard 5, and POTW, to a pretty soft 4.
