  1. So I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs…

  2. Wait, is this THE James Robinson and Philip Tan?! And it’s DC??!! I was expecting IDW and creators I’d never heard of.

  3. Allow me….
BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!!!! I HAVE THE POWER!!!!!

lol just had to unleash my inner 6 year old. That aside, i’m really stoked for this, i hope it gets picked up into an ongoing.

  4. Interesting that it says “DC Entertainment” in the corner rather than “DC Comics”…

  5. Sounds cool, but I think I’ll wait for a trade. Too many monthlies I already need to catch up on.

  6. I read the little digital issue on Comixology. Almost seemed darker. Also, I think that was written by Geoff Johns.

  7. You’d think Geoff Johns would write this considering they just released a toy that he created for the line.

  8. James Robinson writing and Philip Tan doing art on a He-Man book? Shut up and take my money.

  9. omg YES!

  10. damn.. I got so excited I went to comixology right away and then realized it’s just Tuesday. 🙁

  11. JR on Skeletor:

“He’s terrifying. Period. The silly era is done and gone. Phillip and I are taking great pains to make Skeletor, who is after all a barbarian warrior with a skull face, into a horrifying and worthy foe for He-Man. As to motivation, much like before he wants it all. Eternia. Castle Greyskull. Adam’s head on a plate. Everything. He’s just going to be much more ruthless in how he goes about getting it.”

  12. Why use a perfectly good ax when I can throw it away in favor of a stick? Wha–?

  13. I had no idea how much I’d missed the Masters of the Universe um…Universe! A little light on story but ya got beast man what more do ya want???

  14. This was GD awful. Seriously. WTF? Just a complete mess and all over the place for no reason since the story to be told was so basic. The art was bizarre at times with some outright bad panels and mistakes and I think it didn’t help that they had such a large team doing just bits and pieces. The writing was possibly worse! Which is shocking because I had high hopes for Robinson here. “I know! I’ll get rid of this razor sharp axe for a… stick! Yeah!” …by the power of Numbskull this was bad.

  15. This was amazing. Clearly the above posters are missing out on whats really going down. I won’t say more to keep it spoiler free.

All i know is i want more like right now! man i can’t wait for issue 2.
5 stars and potw for me.

    • TheRealVenom –
To be fair – I think the plot was fairly straight forward and obvious thus far, so I wouldn’t guess that they were missing out on what was going down.

There were some cool art moments and some rougher ones – but mostly I dug the art. The writing on the other hand was a bit too on the nose. And the end of the fight with Beastman really did leave me scratching my head.

Cute I guess, but not for me.

  16. This barely gets a 3 from me. The art was lacking, the story was bland and predictable and sparse. Emiliano Santalucia’s art for MVCreations was tons better than this.

  17. People are coming down hard on this. I loved it. As someone who played with the toys and watched the cartoon in the 80’s I thought this was great. I can’t wait for issue two. This scratched an itch for me I didn’t know needed scratching.

    • My thoughts exactly. Same here, I really liked it.

    • No other fanbase hates what they’re into quite like comic fans. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m with you. It was great. Comic fans are always going to hate comics(say what? It’s true.)

    • No other fan base gets it right when deserved… check the news of Robinson *off* of this title after one issue. I guess us fanboys aren’t so far off after all. It was a weak issue.

  18. What happened to that other he-man comic that came out a few months ago that was supposed to be 1 of 3. It may have tied in with the action figures or digital. Is that still coming out?

  19. Issue #1 was kind of weak as far as story, but i still cant wait for the next issue. im ready for a more “savage” or “grown up” MOTU. Make Skeletor the evil badass he really is and lets see some blood!
