  1. Soak up the Tomasi Corps people! I like Bedard a lot, but Newsarama just interviewed him and it sounds like we’re headed for quite a change of pace. He ran through the roster he’ll be focusing on, and Vath, Isamot, Stel, Arisia, and Iolande were not mentioned. This kinda bummed me because I’ve grown fond of those guys and gals, and I loved the pace at which they were developed. But hey, this may all be premature whining. Change can be good, but I’ve enjoyed this series from issue #1 and I’m not completely sold on a third GL title.

  2. Hell ya to Gleason and the Alpha Lanterns!

  3. How much longer until Bedard takes the reins? Does Tomasi make it 50?

  4. @jimbilly4 I think this is Tomasi’s last and Bedard takes over next issue. @wheelhands hopefully Tomadi will bring those characters with him to Emerald Warriors. I just wish he wa taking Kyle and Sarinik with him.

  5. I’m not a big Bedard fan, so I’m sadly dropping this after this issue.

  6. I’ll give bedard one issue to wow me. But it’s gonna be tough due to the fact that i’m finding it harder and harder to justify 3 GL based books. I just dropped ASM because of that same reason, and they were 2.99 issues.

  7. I’m glad to see that the Alpha Lanterns are going to receive some attention.  It seems like they could have been used rather creatively during the Blackest Night and weren’t.

  8. All the GL books are the center of my comic reading universe right now and I, for one, am sticking around for the long haul. I hope some of the less humanoid GLs get some attention in the next run and always more Mogo!

  9. Is that a raptor as a Lantern on the cover? God I’m going to miss Gleason….

I’m not too worried with Bedard/syaf taking over. They have respectively done great stuff for DC in the past couple of years. If Bedard can do REBELS perfectly then he can handle the Corps.

  10. This is the first Green Lantern Corps book I have ever bought and it wount be the last.

  11. a damn shame Gleason is leaving this book.

  12. I think I’m off both GL titles now that Blackest Night is over. I’ll buy this and then that’s it.

  13. @tnc you know what? I read the blackest night issue of REBELS and really didn’t like it. But Bedard did a good Batman confidential arc awhile ago, so he gets an arc.

  14. There had better be a scene of Kyle addressing the Alpha Lanterns and just being like "…wtf guys?"  Considering, y’know, they didn’t do a single thing during Blackest Night EXCEPT get Kyle killed.

  15. @mikeandzod: Go find the first trade of REBELS. Trust me Bedard definitely makes the cast interesting and almost as fun as the GLC book.

  16. I am having a strong feeling that this will be the first Brightest Day title to get dropped.

  17. @tnc I’m really not a huge cosmic fan (GL and GLC are pretty much the only cosmic I read from either company) and the one issue I read was just meh. Sorry dude.

  18. @stuclach: I feel the same way. The Alpha Lanterns received no attention during Blackest Night and it seems almost like they were dropped all together.  I hope Tomasi or Bedard use them.  After the revelations of Brightest Day #0 I would team them up with Guy against the Guardians.

@TNC: I believe the raptor is GL Isamot

  19. I’ve only read the Andy Clarke issues of REBELS but hot damn were they amazing. I don’t even have a history with The Legion either. Hopefully this stays as good as Corps has been.

  20. @JesTr – That would certainly be interesting.

  21. I enjoyed this, but didn’t find it particularly outstanding.  A bit too much exposition for my taste.  Guy looks like he is going to be a character to keep an eye on in the near future.

  22. For me, the scene with Salaak and the Guardins was the highlight of the issue.  Good issue, not great but really good.

  23. I thought this was great… The moments with the Guardians topped it all. But there was quite a bit of set up. I really want to see the recruits with the new trainer and just hope that the new teams can keep GL and all its other books on par with what they have been.

  24. This was fun, but like @stuclach said, a lot of exposition. It was just too much to take in at points. Still, some great great moments for long time fans, or even those that jumped on during Blackest Night. I’m definitely looking forward to Emerald Warriors now.

  25. Best thing about this issue (and, IMO, the entires series) was the Isamot and Varth scenes. A smile rapidly went across my face when I read this, as even though their friendship is as complicated as ever, it’s great to see how it evolved from the beginning of the series.

  26. Loved this issue. Fantastic. Both this and GL #53 have been two of the best post-event issues in my recent memory. Even though he’s only moving right next door, it was a bitter-sweet experience reading Tomasi’s sign-off issue. He’s done some great work on this series, and I hope he brings alot of these characters and themes with himover to Emerald Warriors. I’m a fan of Bedard and Syaf, and I look forward to seeing where they take this title. But I wouldn’t wanna follow Tomasi and Gleason.

  27. damn you ifanbase! another week where all you sheep pick the same book as ifanboy!! YOU SHOULDN’T PUT THE POTW UP BEFORE THE PODCAST!!

  28. @fvckstick: From what it looks like, X-Force has a higher POTW rating than this does. Not as sheepish as you think.

  29. Dude it’s comic books. It’s not like this is some kind of election. We read them because we like them. The same as movies and music. If I like the same movies Roger Ebert does am I a sheep? Chill out man it’s art for f**ks sake.

  30. People’s sarcasm meters are off.

  31. *high fives Conor*

  32. Basically just read conor’s review of this for my thoughts.

POTW all around, I’m gonna miss these two guys…

  33. @TNC…so basically you’re just looking to what Conor says to form your opinion of the book?

    just kidding by the way

  34. I loved this issue, I’m very excited fror Emerald Warriors.
