  1. Can’t wait to get this issue!

  2. @torippu

You are not alone. This got put back week after week, but its finally here!

And then next week Flash#1. Awesome!

  3. Is this gonna be one of those DC commercial-books where they talk about other comics for a few pages.

  4. @summersleep: no it will be some short stories, and some profile pages with Flash-characters

  5. I was kind of surprised Blackest Night didn’t get a Secret Files. The Sinestro Corps War did; I guess we will have to settle for the Blackest Night #0 and the Blackest Night Director’s Cut.

  6. This should be interesting, I can’t wait!

  7. Jay! Barry! Wally! Bart! Yay! I hope. So excited for this to start, I’ll even take a secret files.

  8. Scot Kolins drawing the Flash!

  9. ummm… yeah… sure, looks good. well worth 4 bucks

  10. I’m sold on this because it claims to have FLASH FACTS in it. Better not disappoint.

  11. Shut up Edward. Your sarcasm is not welcome in threads about books I like.

It’s awesome in other threads though.

  12.

    No, you shut up JJ!

Dude, it’s going to be one of those books that has four ads for new books instead of stories.

  13. Beatiful art from Manipul. Looking forward to seeing more of Barry at the comic shop.

  14. Edward, stop reminding me of the reality of my compulsion.

  15. You know, "Tom vs. the Flash" has now officially saved me money.  I don’t feel like I need an introduction really to any of these characters.  I am gonna just wait till the series starts up next week.

  16. it must suck to be an artist filed on "OTHERS"

  17. mmmmmm……..Scott Kolins on Flash. I love it.

  18. So, is this like an primer for the new Flash series?

  19. @Onic

    Yes

  20. Light week, getting this for the art clearly.

  21. I’m usually diametrically opposed to Secret Files books like this, but being as this is the Start of The Flash series and the fact that I can use a refresher on the going ons in The Flash world, I’ll be getting this.

  22. Diametrically?

    Nerd! 😛
  23. This is the beginning of more great things in the DCU. Green Lantern started with a Secret Files after GL: Rebirth and was followed by #1 and it’s looking like in this case the Flash will be off to the races in a similar context. I’m willing to bet in the next 5 years there’ll be a Flash event that’ll blow our minds!

  24. Avatar photo Arrrggghhh (@Arrrggghhh) says:

When I think of Kolins – I think Flash.  When he did other work like the Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, just wasn’t the same.  This is a very good thing . . .

  25. This was fun, so long as you know what you’re getting into when you buy this. Half comic, half encyclopedia. I particuarly liked that Iris’ super power is that she is seemingly immune to caffeine.

  26. They should have just called this Flash #0.  The opening story was enjoyable enough (and seemingly important enough) to be part of the series (in my humble opinion).

  27. Why was the Captain Boomerang info blacked out?

  28. @ Aqua

I was confused too, I think it’s because the issue was originally slated for release before BN 8, which is when his ressurection was announced.

  29. KOLINS = PICK OF THE WEEK (month, year?)

  30. So sad my LCS didn’t have this today. Maybe I’ll see if I can snag it on the weekend.

  31. @JJ: Don’t ostracize me because I have a good vocabulary =P

As someone who has always liked the Flash, but didn’t know too much about him and wanted a refresher, I found this issue very good. It’s sure alot more fun than just looking up all the info on Wikipedia. It contains a quiet and well-written story w/ Scott Kolins art, and some info pieces that are accompanied by Francis Manapul art. The art is alot of fun, and I especially loved the one accompanying Iris’ entry. Good stuff.

  32. @Chris: I’m sorry I made fun of your nerd word. 🙂

French is my first language but I am an anglophile.
I really liked this a great deal actually. I delighted in the whole thing.
  33. @stuclach- The Kolins story felt more like an epilogue for Rebirth than a stand alone story. For that reason, and the weird speed force connection that Johns is building, made me a bit apprehensive about that story. Still, it was fun and Kolins art will always put a smile on my face.

  34. Great setup, but just that…setup. 4 stars

But the art…between Kolins and Manapul, is cause for great excitement. Should be a good run.

  35. Yeah…I already know who THE FLASH is.

  36. @drakedangerz – That makes sense.  I loved the art.

  37. Very enjoyable. This is definitely a jumping on point for newcomers. Those this has many character profiles – the stories were very well done. Well worth seeing the rogues again. I like how the young Barry Allen was reading a double-sized issue of Flash with facts and stuff — very much like this issue itself.

  38. This was my first exposure to Kolins. I wish it would be the last.

And Manapul draws the Flash’s eyes too far apart.

  39. Oh so close to my POTW. this was fantastic.

  40. Great book. Loved the flash facts half of the book since I really know very little about the Flash universe. Leave it to Johns to make a compelling story, and hook me on the Flash universe like he did with GL.
