DOCTOR STRANGE FROM MARVEL VAULT #1

A Marvel Masterpiece from deep inside the treasure vaults can now be told!

For decades, Doctor Stephen Strange has worked as a practicing sorcerer out of the weird old brownstone at 177A Bleecker Street in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village. Now, at last, the full story of Doctor Strange’s first night in his Sanctum Sanctorum stands revealed – in a tale tastefully told by Roger Stern (AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) and dramatically drawn by those Masters of the Comic Arts, Neil Vokes and Jay Geldhof (UNTOLD TALES OF SPIDER-MAN: STRANGE ENCOUNTERS, The Black Forest).

  1. I’m confused. Everything about this solicit suggests this is a reprint, but it’s never explicity stated. Anyone know if it actually is?

  2. I’m pretty sure it’s a “stock” story that has been laying around the Marvel offices. An old story that just never made it to print. I might be wrong though.

  3. @360Logic  The answer is in the first line. It’s an old previously unpublished story.

  4. Oh wow, it’s New-Old Doctor Strange. Tasty.

  5. I saw a preview and this looked pretty good.  But then, I’m a sucker for vintage Dr. Strange.

  6. It’s worth mentioning that Roger Stern’s run was awesome on this book.  You could argue that his was the last great solo book run, particularly because Gillis’ over-looked but excellent run had to share space with Cloak & Dagger.  The entire next volume of Dr. Strange, a ton of issues, never really rose above mediocre, imho.   And since then Doc has really been relegated to C list (before he was at leat B ha ha!), a couple of interesting minis and one-shots, (the Defenders mini, the Order, etc) , a member of Illuminati, blah, blah, although we can hope that his Avengers appearances will respark interest…

  7. I don’t know about the story but that is a fantastic cover

  8. I’ve seen this story of Strange coming to New York and buying the haunted house that becomes his base of operations as a sorcerer before, but I’m glad to have anything devoted to Doctor Strange exclusively. I love the cover.

  9. Wish we could get more Doctor Strange but this From The Marvel Vault concept got me to thinking about a certain unpublished story called The Last Galactus Story…if that still exists I would LOVE to finally see it!

  10. @Zarathos81: Doubt we’ll ever see it.  Best we can do is read about it on Byrne’s webiste.

  11. I would strongly recommend this issue for fans of Thor: The Mighty Avenger who like an modern, yet innocent take on Marvel origin stories.  Dr. Strange house hunting?  Loved it!
