  1. I am sad to hear that Batwoman series has been nixed … 🙁

  2. See, if i was writing the batwoman series i would have made a bigger deal out of the fact that she was a lesbian. For example, i would have created her character an arch-nemesis called "The Man"

  3. Whaaaa? Batwoman isn’t happening now? : (

  4. The solicit for Detective 866 says "come back next month for the return of The Question and Batwoman!", so I have to think that the Rucka/Williams "Batwoman" issues are just going to run in Detective instead. Damn waiting, though!

I guess it was always a question of when JH was going to get far enough ahead on the art. I don’t really care whether Kate gets her own series or if she stays in Detective, personally.

  5. It’s all good for me, since I was going to drop Detective Comics and add Batwoman to my regular pull list anyways. Now I don’t have to!

  6. @corpseed:
Think this wraps the Batwoman story.  Next few issues will feature Dick as Batman leading to Bruce’s return

    Loving JHW3’s cover work.

  7. @flapjaxx where did you see that about Detective 866?

  8. LOVE that cover.

  9. Edward, you made me laugh.
  10. last issue for me 🙁

  11. @mikeandzod21

It says that in the on the DC website in the #866 solicitation.

  12. Detective Comics #866 is a batman book written by Denny Oneal.

    DC #866

It’s over. I am so surprised! They win an award, it sells and they drop it. This is why DC is not winning the sales numbers.

  13. I think the idea is to keep having Rucka and JHW3 telling this tale. They’re just not sure where to put it. I imagine it took a very long time to make those 7 issues. I am okay waiting for these guys to put out another chunk and I don’t really care what book it is in.

  14. @AmirCat-As @flapjaxx said, read the solicit for #866. In there, it states that Batwoman and the Question will return in the following issue. We have to wait until solicits come out next month to see what exactly that means.

  15. I would buy just 4 issues a year of Rucka/Williams Batwoman. However, realistically I think DC wants to see how marketable the character is. I would be really surprised to find her wihtout a comic home for more than a couple of months. One can only hope they find more artists with the storng sense of design to keep the Batwoman vibe going.

  16. @drakeddangerz – oh cool. I missed that.

The reason I was also thinking it ended was because I saw an interview with JH3 and he said it wont happen. Also today Rucka twitted that he just wrote his last "Question/Huntress co-feature script for the time being". I hope I am wrong.

  17. This issue really tied up the Cutter arc well. It was interesting to see how both the stories related to each other as a whole, and I also enjoyed the back-up feature. Good end to an interesting story.

  18. As much as I want the Rucka/Williams team, I’d be perfectly content with Rucka/Jock too.

  19. This issue was really disappointing. The pages Jock did didn’t really flow for me, and the difference between Scott Kollins art and Jock’s was jarring. The story overall was all right, but…. disappointing from all three creators involved. 4/5

  20. @PraxJarvin

    Really disappointing gets a 4?

Same thoughts (though I thought artwise it was still good) but a 3/5.

  21. @NawidA It was disappointing, but the writing and art were still leagues ahead of most of the other books I read this week. For me this was a solid 5 star book every week. In truth, I would probably say it was a 3.5, but since we don’t do halves, I round up.

  22. Im REALLY hoping that Detective 867 will be the return to form with Batwoman.

Also, if JH Williams can’t keep up, bring on Scott Kolins. I mean did you SEE those pages? They were awesome! Hes been a favorite artist of mine since Flash but I never imagined how his style could mesh with the Batman world

  23. Avatar photo Arrrggghhh (@Arrrggghhh) says:

    @PraxJarvin: I agree.
I’m a fan of Jock, loved his Losers and Green Arrow stuff.  But I wasn’t feeling it with the story flow, especially with his red/blue two page spread – that seemed chaotic. It’s also his limited backgrounds, just didn’t seem Gotham enough. Where’s the grit?
Kollins work was more enjoyable . . . (Really wish Kollins was back on Flash though, that was his best work . . . )

  24. I think I’m a minority but I don’t care much for Kolins. I didn’t know there was an art change and when I got to his first 2-page, a disappointing "eek" came out of my mouth.

  25. @Arrrggghhh Yeah, I think we’re both on the same page about the page!

  26. Jock is ok but he’s not my favorite cup of tea.  That would be Kolins, Williams III and Easglesham.

  27. I really like Jock’s art and really liked the eding of this story. Bummed to hear the Batwoman book isn’t happening. Hope they figure tha out soon. Figures that I get my wife into a book and it ends.

  28. i just got a chance to read this week’s books – this was fucking rubbish.

  29. While I agree that the Jock/Kollins switch was jarring, I thought both artists were excellent on this issue. I don’t see what everyone’s complaining about at all.

  30. Gonna have drop Detective Comics for now. Sad, considered I’ve bought Detective pretty consistently since…Knightfall.
