DEADPOOL #38

“OPERATION: ANNIHILATION,” PART 2 & 3

Uh-oh…looks like Deadpool made a slight miscalculation. Sure, he wants to die – but he doesn’t want to take down thousands of innocent people with him! It was almost impossible for Deadpool to convince Hulk to come after him – how the hell is he supposed to convince him to stop?

  1. Well I enjoyed the first issue of this arc, hopefully the smashing continues.

  2. I’m diggin the Trollface.jpg Hulk on the cover.  I agree with Champion, this arc started out great, but then again I’ve been lovin all of Way’s writing.  I’m excited.

  3. @TheSquirrel (good name by the way) I just noticed that was a trollface parody on the cover. Good find!

  4. @TheNextChampion  Now we just have to wait for the summerfags to RAAAAAAGGGGEEEEEEE! and start spamming Marvel with letters exclaiming the importance of Rules 1 & 2.

  5. Looks like fun! Did anyone else notice the similarities between this and the new Moon Knight series?

  6. @Funcrusher
    I don’t see what you’re getting at.
But if you’ve been surfing the MK pages you know I’m not a fan of the new series.
Do you mean just this Annihilation Arc, or the entire series?

  7. @TheSquirrel  The entire series (I’ve been reading Way’s DP since issue 1). The exaggerated, absurdist characterizations and the main charachter talking to themselves incessantly. The psychotic silliness of MK #2 reminded me of this series. Both are new interpretations of the charachters and both series are more fun than serious. Just some similarities I noticed.

  8. Moon Knight will never be Deadpool. No matter how much he wants to be.

  9. This was a really fun issue. Also the cover delivers what it promises, which is lots of smashing. This also had a pretty sweet cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next issue.

    5/5 (POTW)

  10. I’ll say this about Deadpool (this issue included) – this has to be the most absurd comic series that I’ve ever read, but also the one that consistently gets an audible chuckle out of me every issue. As hard and often as I try, I can’t quit this d@mn series. 🙂

How long have you been reading.
I ask because you seem to have hit on what Deadpool is trying to do.  He’s one of the only characters who is as aware that he is a comic book character.  I suggest checking out Wade Wilson’s War, or the Deadpool Pulp series.

On this issue though, I finally got to read it this weekend.
Day and Bong (heheh bong) deliver again with a great wallop of a story.
Loved the last panel, it had me laughing the first and second time I read through.

I don’t like the way Bong draws Deadpools head though.  His mask is supposed to have that little tuft (a  poof if you will) at the back.  I love that poof, it makes me think that Wade’s mask doesn’t fit exactly right.  But if that’s the only thing I can find wrong with this comic you know it can’t be that bad.
