  1. 501 wasn’t as new-reader-friendly as I was hoping, leaving me a little lost. I’ve always loved the idea of Daredevil so I’ll be sticking with it for the time being.

  2. Anybody else digging this art?  I think the pencils are in the Maleev/Lark rhelm, but the colors are a real departure.  I’m a big fan

  3. The coloring reminds me of Hellboy… Tons of blacks, greys and browns with a bright red focal point.

  4. I have a bad feeling about this. All other writers pale in comparison to Miller and Bendis. There is a certain standard i exspect when it comes to Daredevil and i just get pissed off when it isn’t meet.

Stay tuned for some more bitching after the book comes out

  5. @edward – at least it seems like Diggle is trying something new instead of trying to re-create what Bendis did.

although now that I read the solicit "Matt Murdock’s spiral of self-destruction spins out of control and threatens to consume everybody!", maybe not…

  6. The verdicts still out on this for me.

  7. loved #501 but was a bit lost so i went back and brought dark reign: the list: daredevil, and it all clicked and made sense.

  8. I’ve read the majority of Bendis’ run and was floored by how awesome it was; now I’ve got the happy problem of reading through not only Brubaker but even MILLER’S run since I picked up 500 and THE LIST special and have decided to now go monthly with this book.

  9. That’s a fantastic cover by Ribic. I’m so excited to see him do more work for Marvel.

  10. The Owl! Yeah!

  11. I still didn’t think this was very new-reader-friendly… I’m afraid that, as much as I love the concept of Daredevil, I’m going to have to drop this and get my fix from old trades.

  12. Disappointing, to be honest. Dropped.

  13. @ShonenRafa77: Enjoy your reading.. you won’t be disappointed.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.. Miller/Mazzuchelli’s Born Again arc is as good as it gets.

  14. OK, now I’m starting to get into this storyline.

  15. SPOILER

I’m really disappointed that Matt leading the hand is just a hoax.  I think it was a great concept, and was almost the next logical step after he took control of Hell’s Kitchen in Bendis’s run.

  16. I’m new to Daredevil, but I’ve been in love with this "Daredevil leads the hand." idea, and this issue was no different. 4/5.

  17. I thought this was great on all levels.

  18. This book is like the only consistently great Marvel comic with so many different creators.

  19. Hey JMS74 thanks for the recommend!

That’s definitely the arc I’m looking forward to reading the most!

  20. Pretty strong issue.. I’m getting a little curious as to how long this subterfuge with the Hand can really last.  My only gripe is- not too much development of the Hand’s inner workings, etc.  I would like to know a little more about how things work among the Hand and who some of the key ninjas are.. we got a little of the requirements for Matt to lead them, but that’s basically it.

@ShonenRafa77 Let us know what you think.  Also would highly recommend DD #219 by Miller/Buscema – my vote for best single issue DD story ever.

  21. Sorry to say, but Diggle doesn’t do it for me. It’s not bad but it’s laking the little extra Bendis and Bru could bring. Probably drop the title after what..11 years?
