  1. The last 2 issues were excellent.

  2. I had no idea Rodriguez could actually do pencils….Which makes me feel stupid cause of course he could. He’s been such a force as a colorist since the first issue he has been just as much as a ‘storyteller’ to this series like Waid, Samnee, and Rivera.

The preview sure makes this look pretty.

    • I feel even more stupid because I didn’t even notice it was a different artist until now. I had to take a second look because usually a change in artist can be pretty jarring. Not the case here.

  3. although I miss Samnee, this interior is gorgeous. I hope he does a few more in the future.

  4. Rodriguez looks more than capable at filling in for Samnee. Looking forward to this as always.

  5. Jumped on with #26, really enjoying this series. Will have to go back and catch up at some point – can’t wait for this issue.

  6. I’ve been reading this in hardcovers partly because its too pretty not to have in hardcover and partly because I need to stop double dipping. I just checked the preview on comixology and just from seeing those three pages its getting harder and harder to not read this monthly.

  7. HOLY SHIT! For all of you who thought the last few issues were awesome: this one is even better. First the art, it’s amazing, it wouldn’t surprise me if all the best panels this week turn out to be only from this issue. That’s how great Rodriquez is. Second the story… the writing is really tight, no single boring moment. Thank you, Mark Waid.

  8. Well this was a complete shock to me. I knew Rodriguez was a great artist but I had no idea how great he could be on pencils. Absolutely stunning issue from start to finish. I love how he did a lot of experimenting with the layouts. The baton sequence will be a huge standout (and rightfully so) but I love how he paced the opening scene of Matt going to vomit. Also, with Rodriguez coloring his own work this entire issue is just bright and vibrant to look at. Shoot out should go to Alvaro Lopez cause I’m sure his inks help keep everything in control for what is his first issue as penciler.*

Oh and that Mark Waid is good I guess….Sorry Mark it was a great issue by you but this was ALL about Rodriguez for me.

    5/5 (POTW)

*Can anyone verify if this is Rodriguez’s first time doing pencils for a comic? I see a ton of his credits as colorist or inker but none for pencils. Thanks!

If you had told me this book could have somebody fill in for Samnee and not miss a step, I wouldn’t have believed you. And I would have been wrong. Rodriguez rocked this.

  10. I finally jumped on this book, and it looks like I picked the right issue because DD Vol 5 collects up to issue 27. So I picked the right jumping on point, and this was pretty damn good. It reminded me how I used to love DD by Bendis and Brubaker a few years ago. Added this to my pull list along with Young Avengers. I’m becoming a Marvel Zombie!

Since I’ve been dropping a lot of DC as of late, I have some room for these books – but I still am not going to get into 3.99 books, Marvel or DC.

    • Yeah, you picked a great jumping on point. The last story arc that basically has been going on since issue #1 ended last issue. I’m really tempted to check out Young Avengers too. I keep hearing good things.

  11. This and Hawkeye just crush it every time. Here is the “jumping on point” some people have been waiting for, this issue was great. Brilliant concept for the plot of the issue and surprising ending, can’t wait to see where this takes us.

  12. I nearly always finish Daredevil with an orgasmic groan because its so damn special and so heartfelt. Just brilliance as always from Waid and Rodriguez couldn’t have done a better job filling in for Samnee.

    POTW

  13. This issue was great. Matt defending the bully who used to beat him up is priceless. It was also good to get a breath of fresh air into a new story arc too. And the art was amazing.
