  1. Looking forward to the conclusion of Denny’s two-parter. He brought it in part one.

  2. I thought the first one was meh.  Or more accurately, I think I preferred G-Mo’s latest run.  Still, I enjoyed the first and hope this turns out pretty good.

  3. Maybe I’m alone in this one, but I love that cover.

  4. I think it’s a good cover, yeah.

  5. Here’s hoping for more half naked ladies narrating us the 1,000th Nightwing/Two-Face story.

  6. So the Bruce Wayne/Batman’s greatest enemy is the Joker. If Dick Grayson becomes Batman, will Two-Face become the new Batman’s greatest foe?

If Tim Drake becomes the new Batman, who will be Tim Drake’s Batman counter-foe?

  7. dag, I can’t wait.  Yay

  8. @supertrack: Well considering the Robin title is making Anarky a big villain again I would imagine it’s him.

Since he gave those horrible burn scars to Drake in the last issue of Robin….DC might play that up for Drake wanting revenge on Anarky. Which I would personally love btw, Anarky is a villain that could be a scary or brooding villain if written well.

Shocked Morrison never tried him during his run on Batman.

  9. Denny O’neal rules!

  10. I like how this story is about Gotham. Very fresh approach. We’ve read lots of stories about the city’s residents but not nearly as many about Gotham herself. At least not stories quite like this one. Very cool. And it’s all very understated, the way I like it.

  11. this is the conclusion to the story that began in Detective, yes?

  12. @SunnyvaleTrash – Yes.

  13. Thanks.

  14. Who the hell is that actress girl? she kinda looks like that villain from nightwing with all the red silk scarfs. thats not her right? god, i can’t remember the characters for the life of me!!!

  15. "Last days of Gotham" was Detective Comics # what?  I think I missed that one.

  16. @marvelzombie – it was Detective Comics #851

  17. I’m looking at the preview for this at newsarama and I didnt realise DC was making Nightwing a whiny person again. Geez, I know it’s only a 6 page preview, but for a man who is an experienced adult….he sure whines like a kid.

  18. " for a man who is an experienced adult….he sure whines like a kid."

    Irony overload!

  19. haha!!  Oh snap!!!!!!!!

  20. JumpingJupiter for the win.

  21. It appears you have made me cry, touche.

(walks away slowly with piano music playing for some reason)

  22. How are people already rating this weeks books?  do they not come out friday in the UK or Canada this week?

  23. Perhaps it’s the people who get their comics through subscriptions.  My kid brother has a subscription to Iron Man and sometimes it arrives a day or two before it’s supposed to come out..

  24. Books were out yesterday (Wednesday) in the UK, so for once I get to read my books before you lot, Aw, yeah!

  25. On first read I was a bit disappointed at part two of this story. It seemed to lack the subtlety of part one. I’ll re-read a few times and decide if it’s worth writing a review.

I still enjoyed some parts of it though.

  26. meh, it was ok

  27. This was a bad issue….a VERY BAD issue.

  28. Just when I thought Nightwing was getting some much deserved (& overdue) respect by DC writers, he is written in this issue as an inexperienced, unconfident, whiney little bitch. Like taking down some two-bit thugs was a major triumph for him. Nightwing would take out fools like this every single night & would have been doing it since he was a kid. Flying solo isn’t a new thing for him. Does Denny O’Neil follow the Bat-books?

    Disappointing.

  29. I see what you mean. I think though, that O’neil was showing how Batman’s disappearance has shaken Nightwing so badly that he has lost confidence. But yeah, I think the attempt failed.

  30. I thought this analogy of Millicent as Gotham was flimsy at best. Wasnt she called the face of Gotham anyways? How does that make her the voice of the city? O’Neil’s storytelling was just flimsy here and his diaologue for Nightwing is just sad to read. It’s obvious he never reads the current Bat titles cause he obviously has no idea how Dick acts like today.

  31. "Wasnt she called the face of Gotham anyways? How does that make her the voice of the city?"

Metaphors aren’t your forte are they?

  32. @JJ: No they are, but how can someone be the voice of gotham when she’s called the face of gotham? That doesnt make her the entire voice of gotham, she would represent the look of gotham…Not the overall voice.

Why we had to have a half naked woman as the voice of gotham makes no sense either.

Oh wait I know the answer to that….cause Guillem is a cheesecake artist when it comes to women.

  33. Wow.

  34. Ok screw this. I’m calling bullshit here. Metaphors are NOT your forte, I present exhibit a -> http://www.ifanboy.com/reviews/JumpingJupiter/dc_comics/detective_comics/851 <-

You’re a nice enough guy TNC, but really, quit shitting me with this. You’re just digging yoursef in a hole.

    The End.

  35. @JJ: Good thing that link you posted is inaccessible so I’m in the clear. 🙂

  36. copy paste is your friend.

  37. Alfred was the best part of this issue.

  38. this issue was sooo all over the place.  there was no real threat, the chcik in the robes served no purpose, and the is a line where Nightiwng refences the real Two Face never trying to scar some one like he was scarred…which is odd, considering Two Face just tried to dump acid out of zeplins in NYC in the Nightwing book an issue or two back.  Way to drop the ball, Mike Marts.

  39. The story would be better if it were Robin instead of Nightwing, the character portral is all wrong for Dick.  Overall just a mediocre book this week.
