James Harren! Hell yeah!
Yes! It’s good to see him back on a book. I would love it if someday he was the regular artist on something. I’m sure he’ll get his shot soon, but for now these mini’s are good enough to whet my appetite for awesome.
Word. Loved him on the Long Death & Conan.
Is he good? I’m not familiar with his work. Loved the last artist. I hope that he comes back.
He’s one of the best.
He’s the bomb, sir! He is certainly the darling of all the professionals, and with good reason.
Wow, I have to agree. Awesome looking.
I passed on this because I didn’t like the art and I’m just tired of BPRD. I’m way behind in my reading, and I think there are just too many BPRD books coming out these days.
Maybe if I ever catch up on my reading I will pick this up.
I really enjoyed this issue. I didn’t know what to expect storywise, but Allie and Mignola delivered an intriguing tale of an ancient weapon. Even with none of the major BPRD players the story was engaging, and next issue this mini is already over, it will be interesting to see how things wrap up.
For those not familiar with James Harren, this issue was a pretty good introduction; though fairly restrained, the dynamism in his art was evident. The fireside scenes crackled with a foreboding energy, and I’m sure next issue we’ll get some balls to the wall mayhem.
I love how this comic truly presents “tales of the unexpected.” I just never know which direction the story’s going next and that’s a rare and wonderful thing. Plus, Harren’s a beast.
This issue was helped since I happened to read the first Witchfinder series just before this came out and understood the mythology around this sword far more. That also blew Hellboy in Hell wide open for me once I realized who that masked man was and now I need to reread the a LOT of the Hellboy series now.
