  1. I would be ecstatic that this is coming out, but seeing how few pulls it has makes me angry at the hundreds of people buying the usual garbage and giving the publishers another reason to cancel their best on-going series that star members of the Rider family and Russian Astronaut Dogs.  (I’m not bitter.)

  2. Does anyone know how many pages this is? I’m on the fence with this book, the price is hard to commit to on such a limited income to purchase books. I don’t get how guardians of the galaxy and nova got canceled because of limited sales numbers but then marvel puts out a new cosmic book for 4.99..

  3. Cubs– I’m right there with you. I am already shocked by how few pulls this is getting. How in the world can DnA write 5 years of incredible cosmic stories than STILL get weak sales on this new title???

  4. @kaufman1972 – Not sure how many pages it is, but as far as I understand we’re really getting 2 books here; the Annihilators and the Rocket Raccoon/Groot mini that we were told about last year. Makes me think double sized, but I could easily be wrong.

Missed this on my first pass, but man am I jazzed for this.

  5. Maybe the article on the first page will help draw interest.

  6. I’ve been seeing 48 pages solicted. We should have been been paying $6 to $8 for this since these two stories were originally going to be seperate limited series. Anyways, really excited to read this!

  7. I missed this when I was making my pull list because I didn’t know it was coming out already. I should pay more attention.

  8. Hell yes

  9. GTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!

  10. I’d say it’s getting so few pulls because everyone is looking at the $5 price tag and thinking “Oh well. Trade it is”

    I know I am.

  11. I have an affinity for Huat. I don’t know why.

  12. Loved Huat’s Ghost Rider, hated his Moon Knight.

Sweet Dire Wraiths from X-Men lore, chekin this out most def.

  13. Why is this $4.99? I may just trade wait. Marvel has been awful with their pricing. I’m tired of $3.99 books.

  14. Cant wait….Bring it on

  15. Guys, it’s two full length stories. That’s why it costs that…

  16. Definitely frustrating to see people dismissing this book because they see it to be a rip off, though the opposite is true.
Really think a DnA cosmic title deserves to be read by more people–do people really still not know how awesome their cosmic stories have been?– and this double sized issue is really a great deal folks! Pick it up!

  17. @Jdudley  I loved all the DNA cosmic stuff, most recently Thanos Imperative, Nova, and Guardians of the Galaxy. I’ll see how thick the issue is when I get to the store, and it will be a game time decision.

  18. Many people  are cutting down their pulls to just the titles they have been following for the longest time like Amazing Spider-man and other established title, regardless if they enjoy it or not. So I think, this being good does not count a lot for some. Compounded with the fact that it’s a 4.99 book, this title is in for a hard time with the sales. Maybe if Marvel follow suit with DCs 2.99 program, people will have a lot more room for an under appreciated quality book like this.

  19. I agree, putting this at 4.99 is not going to help it’s sales at all.  That being said, it’s only 4 issues and I know I’m going to like it so I’m definately in.

  20. i’d be interested in trying it out…but at $5 i’ll wait for the reviews to come in first.

  21. Not sure what the frustration is.  It’s tracking more pulls on this site than Secret Six and X-Factor.  For a book not featuring Spider this or Avengers or X-that thats not bad.  I’m betting it tops 20,000 in sales…maybe over 25,000.  Not amazing, but certainly enough to justify more minis.

  22. @kmob181 iFanboy does not equal the market. I’ll be glad if this tops 13000.

  23. In comics, as with all discretionary products, price point and perceived value is important! And retailers probably won’t order heavily for fear of getting stuck with more expensive product so there’s a good chance of this being largely under-ordered. Sad, but reality. Regardless, I’m sure the quality will be there for those buyers with the funds, and who are willing to take a chance.

  24. Is this actually coming out? I’m looking at Diamond’s list (which is always accurate *snicker*) and I don’t see it listed at all, other than a picture of the cover.

  25. I think the book received tepid amounts of pulls because it wasn’t on the list of books at first. If I hadn’t already known that it was coming out, I would have and could have missed it, too.

  26. I was looking for extra stuff to pull this week.  I loved Nova & Guardians, so I’m giving this a try.  But my interest in the cosmic line has been waning.  Can’t we get a second to breathe between crisis-level events?

  27. @Minion  – I think ifanboy distorts things like Vertigo and smaller prints (as we buy a decent number of them) but I feel like it’s decently accurate for Marvel and DC.  25K may have been ambitious but I think close to 20K is reasonable.  But after all is said and done you may be right.

  28. I’ll be reading this during my lunch hour! Keep your eyes out for a guy in a business suit at a deli in downtown chicago reading a comic book called “Annihilarors” in about an hour. High chance that guy in me.

  29. @Jdudley:  wow you’re post took a turn at the end there…

  30. FYI: it’s 20 story pages for Annihilators and 22 pages for RR and Groot! So as someone who was planning to read both, this is a great value ($4.99 for 2 comics!).

  31. The actual Annihilator story was… Ok. But the Rocket Raccoon back-up? Best thing I’ve read all damn year. This gets a 5 just for that.

  32. I didn’t know if I was going to pick this up becasue I hate… HATE Tan Eng Huat’s art. His GR and punisher runs are horrible, however, this didn’t look bad. I think he has improved some and stepped it up a bit.

  33. The Annihilators story isn’t anything amazing but still has my interest.  It’s cool seeing someone other than Nova or Star-Lord being the central character.  Tan Eng Huat’s art has never grabbed me.  I wouldn’t say it hurt the issue but it certainly didn’t help it.

The Rocket Raccoon story was brilliant.  I love Timothy Green II’s art, the setup was great and I even laughed out loud at the pun on the last page.

...If I wouldn't have tried to fix it, it would have been fine.
  37. As someone who deals with lots of packing supplies and many often-times annoying customers on a daily basis, I have to say Rocket Raccoon is my hero!  The brilliant use of packing tape!!  It’s like… it’s like he’s seen my daydreams.  All kidding aside the RR and Groot portion pushed the issue into a 5/5.  Excellent art and an enjoyable read kept me wanting more, and I have no history with the characters.  Come for the Annihilators, stay for Rocket Raccoon and Groot!

  38. Both Huat and Green II’s work looked great in this, awesome ish.

  39. DNA back on cosmic makes this a 5/5 unread.  Rocket Raccoon hired to fill a Cute Animal Affirmatvie Action initiative?  Welcome to Pick of the Week.
