To note, this is a new jumping on point for me into the Marvel Cosmic world…

I picked this up because I am a big fan of Abnett and Lanning’s “Heroes for Hire,” and a lot people seem to be excited about the Marvel Cosmic line. And I enjoy Silver Surfer stories.

I did read some of Nova and most of Realm and War of Kings because I have always been a big fan of the Inhumans and Darkhawk.  However, I have read none of Annihilation or Conquest events but with a new #1 I thought this would be a good jumping on point.

I was indifferent. I may be alone, but the characterization of Silver Surfer seemed wrong. Perhaps I am used to him being more of a solo character and not someone necessarily who fits into a team, especially when they are all sitting around avengers style. That and the actual story did not win me over and would have dropped this book, but…

I LOVED THE ROCKET RACCOON story. I know nothing about the character or the Guardians of the Galaxy, but this has got me interested in continuing this story and when this is done, I could see myself going back and looking into the trades of Guardians. So, count me in!

Overall:
Story #1: 3 out of 5 for Story and Art
Story #2: 4 out of 5 for Story and 3 out of 5 for the art.

Story: 4 - Very Good
Art: 3 - Good
