  1. Up there with Batwing for most anticipated book each month!

  2. Well I keep sticking around and I am not sure why? Honestly, I really like Animal Man however; he is nothing like I remembered so what is my deal? Last weeks issue ended with them standing with the door open on the camper and the critters were all over; Yikes!! I hope this leads into some real action because, thats what I have been waiting for.

  3. My favourite book has come around again. Happy day.

  4. I want animal man to put his costume on again.

  5. I’m really enjoying the talking cat.

  6. Oh the poetic irony of Buddy fighting animals. That are evil !

  7. First week of each months its a question of which is going to get me more excitied – Swamp thing or Animal Man? Best one-two punch of comics reading right now.

  8. Wow, top pull this week. Though I have a feeling there’s people pullung AvX and and not telling us about it. I understand. After Fear Itself it does seem pretty uncool to be buying a Marvel event. Plus this and Swamp Thing are almost guaranteed better books no matter how good AvX #1 may be. It’s just tough to be better than those two right now, unless you’re Batman.

  9. Love Animal Man but it always goes by so quick. I wouldn’t mind paying 3.99 for more pages or getting two issues a month.

  10. Forgot to pick this up last month, realized that I didn’t miss it. A perfect sign that I shouldn’t be buying it.

  11. I think this edged out Swamp Thing this week because of the story, and Maxine! Swamp Thing has some killer art though.

  12. Maxine building a new body was freakin’ creepy.

    • Agreed. I’m not sure what to make of her.

    • I thought it was more creepy that, apart from Ellens mum, they seemed to get over it fairly quickly.

If it were me I’d think Maxine was dead, and this was a Rot-imposter.

This series remains my favourite, as twists like that and the cliff hanger are truly shocking

    • They are likely becoming desensitized to events like what Maxine did. That may explain the lack of response.

    • i thought something was fishy about trusting a new maxine so soon, but socks would know if something was up, right?
he commented on how she was evolving so quickly afterward.
perhaps thats why it was glossed over so nonchalantly.

  13. I did not expect that final page. Wow.

  14. Great issue. Helluva cliffhanger too. Pugh has put to rest any doubts I might’ve had as to him being a suitable replacement. In my opinion, the transition was relatively seamless. I haven’t made it through my stack yet, but this is definitely a contender for POTW.

  15. ya know, in JL hal says “we got this” to the other league members and a lot of people thought that it was silly.
buddy tells an army guy “i’ve got this” before battling and no one says a word.

  16. I finally read this over the weekend and I have to say I gave it a 3 and that was just being generous I think. The cliffhanger at the end really was ok I really just felt like I am waiting for something big to happen in this title and then nothing and then the cliffhanger keeps me around for another issue I think? I know right now I am tired of the whole rot, green and red story lines in both this and Swampy. I really hope after the cross overs or whatever that we will be done for awhile with that story arc. Because I do realize this is something that will be a constant arc in these titles as long as they stay in print. I’m just not sure this is what I was expecting from Animal Man? I was hoping we would get a little more action and super heroics! Thats my own fault and should have figured by now that is not the case. One more issue is what I am going to do I think….

It’s more a horror book than a cape and tights book. I think that was pretty well established early on. The terrific Green/Red dynamic and Rot storyline aren’t going away any time soon.
